Fundada en 1543, por Francisco de Montejo, “El Sobrino”, para someter a aguerridos e indomables Mayacupules. El espíritu rebelde y valiente de los cupules hizo de Valladolid una ciudad heroica, fuente de rebeldía contra la injusticia; inicio de la “Guerra de Castas” en 1848, indígenas contra dominadores; en mayo de 1920, aquí se enciende “La Chispa de la Revolución Mexicana” contra 30 años en el poder de Porfirio Díaz. Creativa y fina gastronomía: longaniza, lomitos, escabeche y más. Hermosos edificios de la Colonia, EX CONVENTO DE SAN BERNARDINO (1553), construido sobre las rocas de un enorme cenote, retablo principal de finas maderas talladas, cubiertas con oro en hojas; la imagen de la Virgen de Guadalupe tiene 400 años. En el centro de limpias calles y hermosas fachadas, la IGLESIA DE SAN GERVASIO con imponentes torres y arquitectura, exhibe cañones usados en la “Guerra de Castas”. El MUSEO DE ARTE POPULAR, con artesanías de vestidos bordados o hipiles, el TEMPLO DE SANTA ANA que tenía misas en maya. El CENOTE ZACÍ –visita obligada- majestuoso, limpio, parcialmente cubierto, con miradores, “trampolines mesetas”, escaleras que llevan a nadar en sus aguas respetando el misticismo y la magia del entorno. Edificios, calles y habitantes dan imagen fiel, no sólo de provincia yucateca, sino de México. Sisal es una playa ubicada en el poblado de Hunucmá. Es un puerto dedicado a la pesca, actividad que es considerado el motor de esta población al ofrecer riquísimos mariscos en los restaurantes que enamorarán las papilas gustativas de sus visitan-

Durante la época colonial, este puerto recibía mercancía que se distribuía en el resto del Estado, por ello se construyeron el fuerte y el faro que actualmente son uno de sus principales atractivos, sin olvidar mencionar el muelle donde puedes dar una caminata y sentir la brisa del mar en el rostro.
