A perfect example of this is the stunning new Ultegra XTE/XSE reel. Its predecessor, launched in 2016, became the benchmark by which other reels were judged. Now, within the confines of producing a long range reel with mass market affordability and appeal, the new version has completely rewritten the rules. Inside the ultra lightweight Ci4+ body is an arrangement of gearing technology to meet your highest expectations. And distance enhancing RIGIDCAST, a new technology launched last year on the highly acclaimed Aero Technium MgS, will noticeably add length to the longest casts. Building on our ‘concept solutions philosophy’, the Aero Coarse and Match concept is strengthened by several new introductions. The undoubted star is the greatly anticipated Aero Match reel series. SHIMANO’s first purpose-designed match reels for over 10 years are the perfect complement to the hugely popular Aero rods. With their combination of sleek looks, exclusive technology and remarkable affordability, the return of the anti-reverse feature is sure to prove immensely popular with Coarse and Match anglers throughout Europe. Continuing on the concept philosophy, a new range of Yasei predator rods sits perfectly between the high end Yasei LTD and the popular Yasei BB ranges. There are ten different designs, expertly crafted for European predator fishing, using specific techniques to maximum effect. Combining refined actions with ‘customlike’ build quality and finish, every rod in the new Yasei range is designed to perform a specific function and inspire confidence. Finally, there is a new reel in the Magnumlite series that should not be overlooked: the stunning Miravel. Balancing affordability with SHIMANO’s renowned lightweight technology, the Miravel now broadens Magnumlite availability to a wider audience of cost conscious anglers. This year’s new product introductions further reinforce our commitment to you and the benefit it provides. REEL MANUFACTURING BASED ON THE HAGANE CONCEPT IS SUPPORTED BY THE UNIQUE METALWORKING TECHNOLOGY THAT SHIMANO HAS DEVELOPED OVER THE YEARS.

HAGANE GEAR

The HAGANE Drive Gear is produced by SHIMANO’s cold forging technology, without the need for additional machining. This results in gearing parts which retain the characteristics of the pure material, keeping it as strong as possible.

BENEFIT

This delivers a long lasting smoothness, strength, lightness and power at the very heart of the reel. Traditional die cast machined gears are less durable under heavy loads, but HAGANE Gear is tremendously strong and durable.

MICROMODULE GEAR

MICROMODULE GEAR is a machined gear component, made with great precision. The super-refined teeth produce seamless engagement with other gears.

BENEFIT

MICROMODULE GEAR has two advantages: increased smoothness and better sensitivity. This results in accurate performance with improved power transmission.

X-SHIP

X-SHIP stands for Extra Smooth & High Power. It is a precision gearing system which enables smooth yet strong reeling. By supporting the pinion gear at both ends and integrating a bigger drive gear with improved positioning, increased gearing efficiency and power is produced. It results in ultra-light handle rotation combined with excellent power efficiency.

BENEFIT

This enhances the smooth operation of the reel, while at the same time improving power transmission from the handle to the rotor. This means less effort and more power - giving a perfect rotation, even under heavy loads and high pressure. The X-SHIP components are strong, precise and durable.

HAGANE BODY

HAGANE BODY is made out of precision machined aluminium or magnesium. These body designs create stiffness and impact resistance, while at the same time eliminating flexing of the body. The HAGANE BODY is highly rigid and protects gear rotation performance from heavy loads and shocks.

BENEFIT

The high rigidity makes the reel body very strong, tough and protects the gears and inner workings. At the same time, the body has a low weight and minimal flex, warp or distortion. The result is a rock-solid housing and support for the moving internal gearing and greater efficiency throughout the reel. This helps increase smoothness and powerful reeling.
