Objectives

The purpose of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) is to: y Ensure that every household has access to a tap with an assured supply of water and a sewerage connection. y Increase the amenity value of cities by developing greenery and well-maintained open spaces. y Reduce pollution by switching to public transport or constructing facilities for non-motorized transport (e.g., walking and cycling).

One of the key efforts of the Mission is to improve governance through a set of Reforms, of which formulation of a GIS-based Master Plan is an important one.
