Awards Prix

In 2019,149 applications from 34 European countries were submitted for the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards.25 winners from 16 countries (photo collage 1) were chosen by juriesof experts from across Europe.Their outstanding achievements were awarded in four categories:Conservation, Research,DedicatedService,and Education,Training and Awareness-Raising.In addition,one Europa Nostra Award was awarded to a remarkable achievementfrom Turkey,a European country nottaking partin the EU Creative Europe programme.

The winners were celebrated atthe Grande Soirée du Patrimoine Européen on 29 October atthe Théâtre du Châteletin Paris (photo 2). More than 1,000 people from all over Europe gathered to celebrate these inspiring heritage achievements.The European Commissioner for Education,Culture,Youth and Sport,Tibor Navracsics,and the Presidentof Europa Nostra,Maestro Plácido Domingo,co-hosted the ceremony and paid tribute to the laureates.

En 2019,149 candidatures de 34 pays européens ontété soumises pour les Prix européens du patrimoine / Prix Europa Nostra.25 lauréats de 16 pays (photo collage 1) ontété sélectionnés par des jurys d’experts issus de toute l’Europe.Leurs réalisations exceptionnelles ontété récompensées dans quatre catégories :Conservation, Recherche,Contribution exemplaire,etÉducation,Formation et Sensibilisation.De plus,un prix Europa Nostra a été décerné à une réalisation remarquable de la Turquie,un pays européen ne participantpas au programme Europe Créative de l’UE.

Les lauréats ontété célébrés lors de la Grande Soirée du Patrimoine Européen le 29 octobre au Théâtre du Châteletà Paris (photo 2). Choice Award,which wentto the Fortified Settlementof Mutso, Georgia.A Special Award was given to the Paris Fire Brigade in recognition of their fightto save Notre-Dame Cathedral on 15 April 2019 (photo 3).

The international conference “David Gareji - Multidisciplinary Study and DevelopmentStrategy”,during which the Awards scheme and the 7 MostEndangered programme were puton centre stage,was held in Tbilisi,Georgia,from 18 to 20 April (photo 4). On 19 April,a local eventtook place to presentEuropa Nostra’s activities in Georgia and celebrate the Georgian laureates.

From May to December,16 of the winners organised local award ceremonies to celebrate their achievements with their local communities.These gatherings broughttogether approximately 3,000 people across Europe.A local ceremony for Greek Paths of Culture,which won an Award in the category Education,Training and Awareness-Raising,was celebrated in Marathon,Greece,on 18 June (photo 5). 5

La conférence internationale “David Gareji - Étude multidisciplinaire etstratégie de développement”,au cours de laquelle nos programmes des Prix etdes “7 merveilles d’Europe en péril”ontété au centre des discussions,s’esttenue à Tbilissi,en Géorgie,du 18 au 20 avril (photo 4).Le 19 avril,un événementlocal a eu lieu pour présenter les activités d’Europa Nostra en Géorgie etcélébrer les lauréats géorgiens.

De mai à décembre,16 lauréats ontorganisé des cérémonies locales de remise de Prix pour célébrer leurs réalisations avec leurs communautés respectives.Ces événements ontrassemblé environ 3,000 personnes dans toute l’Europe.Une cérémonie locale à l’honneur des “Sentiers culturels Grecs”,qui a remporté un prix dans la catégorie Éducation,Formation etSensibilisation,s’est déroulée à Marathon,en Grèce,le 18 juin (photo 5).

The awards plaque was unveiled atthe Cathedral of SaintBavo - a Grand Prix winner in Conservation - in Haarlem,The Netherlands, on 11 October (photo 6). In addition,500 years of dedicated service by the Private Water Owners of Argual and Tazacorte (photo 7) - a Grand Prix winner in 2018 - was celebrated in Spain on 2 February.

From 25 to 27 September,the UNESCO World Heritage City of Dubrovnik hosted the Bestin Heritage Conference for its 18th edition.42 museum,heritage and conservation projects which were awarded in 2018,among them seven laureates of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards,were presented atthe event. 7

Le 11 octobre,à Haarlem,aux Pays-Bas,la Cathédrale de SaintBavon - un Grand Prix dans la catégorie Conservation - a dévoilé sa plaque de distinction (photo 6). En outre,le 2 février,l’Espagne a célébré les 500 ans de contribution exemplaire des propriétaires privés d’eau d’Argual etde Tazacorte (photo 7),qui ontremporté un Grand Prix en 2018.
