At FITUR, the Estepona Coun cil presented the great pe destrian boulevard that opens the town up to the sea. A project that enables the creation of one of the best promenades in the country, with a balcony overloo king the Mediterranean that beco mes a new tourist attraction, in keeping with the "Estepona, Gar den of the Costa del Sol" project. The initiative includes a large Li brary, a Music Conservatory, an Au ditorium for cultural events, an exhibition hall that will open with works from the Carmen Thyssen collection and an observation tower that will give the public panoramic views of the town and the Medite rranean.

El Parque Botánico-Orquidario sigue dando alegrías. En estos días ha vuelto a florecer un ejemplar de "Oreja de Elefante", una singular orquídea originaria de Borneo, que se caracteriza por las grandes dimensiones de sus hojas. Esta planta, que permanecerá en floración hasta mediados de febrero, exige condiciones muy especiales en cuanto a luz, humedad relativa y temperatura, por lo que son muy valoradas tanto por los coleccionistas de orquídeas como por botánicos. Este tipo de orquídeas va ganando tamaño en cada floración hasta alcanzar dimensiones descomunales, con hojas que pueden llegar a los 90 centímetros de longitud y los 40 centímetros de ancho, en las cuales podría ocultarse un bebé.
