School. I have a bachelor in Industrial Engineering and Management in the University of Coimbra and I worked five years in the machine's industry. In 2020 I decided to take on a new project and now I am doing my seven months traineeship at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Maribor. I have never worked in an International relations office before but I had always contact with international people, like suppliers and in industry fairs.

However, academic life is not merely about work. The students have time for fun and they can always find something interesting happening around throughout the Inside the building (credits ISCAC) week. On the other hand, weekends are usually very quiet as most students go home to visit their families.

The students have two main festival periods. The first one is the fresher's week (latada), which occurs around the end of October and the second Student's festival (Queima das Fitas), which occurs around the middle of May. During the fresher's week, the newly enrolled students have to dress up in various costumes and endure different types of games and rituals. During the student's festival there are various activities happening throughout the day and open-air concerts every night that lasts till the early morning. The most signifcant moment of the festival is parade in the city streets with special cars prepared and decorated by students.

Maribor has a really good location, it is close to other cities and countries. Without pandemic restrictions we can travel easily. Also, Maribor is a very beautiful city, living here is an experience that I will never forget. The parks are so green, the hills surrounding the city are perfect for hiking. Moreover, the city centre is quite cosy and perfect for a short walk at the end of the working day. Also, you can always find something to do at any time of the year.

My Erasmus experi ence

Maribor Since my early days, I have been very interested in knowing other countries, new cultures, and people. The traineeship at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Maribor has been a great opportunity to visit Slovenia as well as for improving my professional skills.

The environment at the International Relations Office is amazing, this place offers professional development on the one hand and a chance to meet different people from different countries on another, despite all the limitations due to the pandemic situation which is part of our life nowadays.
