Villandry is a unique example of a French garden in the Renaissance style, completely reconstructed in the early 20th century through the vision of one man, Joachim Carvallo. Visitors come from around the world to admire the scholarly designs of the Ornamental Gardens and the subtle harmonies of the squares of the Potager (kitchen garden), constantly renewed through the seasons. Maintained in a state of perfection following the principles of organic gardening, Villandry has recently been enriched by the addition of a sumptuous garden of perennials in shades of gold and silver, adding the finishing touch to its creator’s dream.
