B U I L D I N G A C H A R AC T E R IN FICTION The most effective characters in fiction are always flawed, multi-layered, and remind us of people we know. But how do you avoid clichés and one-dimensional fictional figures to create fully-fledged characters that readers can relate to? In this practical workshop, Sarah will guide you through a series of exercises to help you create a fully dimensional fictional character. Story arises from character so the better you know your character the stronger your story will be. Bring an existing character you have written, or come ready to create a new one.

LYNNE ADAMS-FLOWER BED-2015

As part of this year’s Brunswick Nature Sculpture Walk (BNSW), award-winning artists including Lynne Adams, Shona Wilson, Marion Gaemers and Lynette Griffiths are holding a range of masterclasses and hands-on workshops. Combining themes of recycling, the environment, conservation, and sculpture, the workshops, run at the Tweed Regional Gallery and onsite at the BNSW, will teach participants a range of art techniques and skills, such as weaving, making art from recyclable materials and creating ephemeral artworks using the natural environment as inspiration. Given the wealth of expertise the artists hold, as well as their passion for the creation of large-scale installations, the reuse of discarded materials and raising awareness of environmental concerns through artworks, the one-day workshops are not to be missed. Not only will participants get the opportunity to create their own work of art, but they will also get the opportunity to help create a future where the need to reuse, recycle, and respect this Earth are forevermore. Limited places so book in soon. For more information, or to register in one of these workshops go to: www.brunswicknaturesculpturewalk.com/ masterclass.html.
