NEW YEARS EVE

WAVE GOODBYE TO YOUR LAST YEAR

I ALWAYS THINK THAT THE WAY YOU WAVE GOODBYE TO YOUR LAST YEAR AND THE WAY YOU BRING IN THE NEW HERALDS THE YEAR AHEAD. SO WHICH IS IT GOING TO BE FOR YOU? A QUIET SNOOZE ON THE COUCH AT HOME OR DANCING YOUR BUTT OFF AT SOME BUSH DOOF? New Years Eve is just around the corner and that means you have to start thinking about what you are going to do. Some of you will have already made your plans. Others will be sitting there tossing up between doing nothing or something. The thrill seekers among you will be planning on staying at home and watching the fireworks on TV. I think that’s one of the saddest things you can do. Fireworks on TV. That’s not even good. Fireworks have to be seen in the flesh. Watching them on TV is silly. Maybe if you are in hospital. Or you are being kept hostage. But fireworks on TV says to me No Effort and that’s just not the message you want to give to the universe. You need to be standing under them gasping in amazement. Covering your ears with the din of the boom boom

boom swish as the magic sparkles fall from the sky. Fireworks on TV just doesn’t cut it. Although if you are after fireworks this year don’t go to Byron because the council aren’t doing it. There won’t be any boom boom boom swish in the skies of Byron this New Years Eve. There will, however, be some party action in the streets, music, fun, frivolity, so you will be spoilt for choice. New Years Eve always comes with such expectation. I remember the anxiety of not knowing what to do, where to go. What if I chose somewhere not as much fun? What if other people had a better New Years Eve than I did? This affected me so badly one year I brought in the New Year travelling between parties. I was sitting in a gutter waiting for a taxi because I had to get to the best party! When you roll like that every party you were at becomes the best party after you leave. People say ‘you should have stayed!’ So, lovely readers, you need to make a few choices. There’s everything from comedy to karaoke, from 1980s concerts on the green to huge DJ lineups. So what are you keen on this year? Read on for the first instalment of what’s available for New Years Eve 2017/2018. More to be revealed next week!
