The collision of an ex-cyclone and a cold front was something no-one in the northern rivers really needed, especially the people of Lismore and Murwillumbah. Along with many other local residents, some of our drudges had the ‘pleasure’ of cleaning the mud from their floors and walls. A big round of applause to all those who helped out in this mind-blowing event, especially the reliable volunteers of the SES who eased a lot of people’s distress. Spare a thought also for the wildlife that copped a battering and give WIRES a call on 6628 1898 if any animals need rescuing. Q Q Q Q

As you may have heard, popular local cycling legend Jay Carney is leaving True Wheel Cycles. Naturally there has to be a going-away party and it’s on Saturday April 8 at the Mullumbimby Leagues Club grounds from 3pm till 9pm. Says Jay: ‘We’ll have a bike swap-and-sell or just bring your favourite ride. This coincides with the food-truck festival so plenty of food and music will be available. I would really love to see you and your family at the event but if you can’t make it, thanks for all the support and love.’

I have been very moved. As a result, I have decided I can no longer lend my support to the Adani
