Shores United grateful for local business Shores United soccer club held their annual fundraiser on 29 August at the Ocean Shores Tavern. The night was a resounding success with fun, raffles, an auction and great live music from the White Feather band. A total of $2,240 was raised for our club, with funds coming exclusively from local businesses. ‘The level of generosity in this community never ceases to amaze me,’ says club president Marc Patten. ‘Our club approached a total of 57 local businesses in Ocean Shores, Billinudgel, Mooball, Byron Bay and Brunswick Heads seeking assistance. ‘Some of these businesses struggle to survive on a weekly basis; nonetheless, an astonishing 56 local

businesses donated items to the club for raffle. The only business to decline was the multibillion-dollar corpo-

ration, in the best position to assist its community and where the club does all of its shopping, Coles Australia.’

The club wants to thank the other 56 local businesses who dug deep to help their kids.
