Backlash Hosato ‘George’ Takei, famous for his role as Hikaru Sulu, helmsman of the USS Enterprise in the TV series Star Trek, is now an LGBT activist and a popular Facebook identity with over 8.5 million likes. So you can imagine our delight when one of the spoof ads in our classifieds, ‘Evil genius seeks minions to sacrifice their lives in world domination attempt’, got posted by Mr Sulu with the comment, ‘It’s nice to see an evil overlord with a fresh approach’. Thanks for the global coverage, George. Q Q Q Q

Giles Parkinson on Reneweconomy.com.au reports that investment bank Morgan Stanley reckons the home battery storage market in Australia could be worth $24 billion, with half of all households likely to install batteries to store the output from their solar panels. It strikes us as a move by the hierarchy to block hipsters from shirt-fronting other hipsters

It looks like peeved motorists are unlikely to get rid of MAMILs (Middle Aged Men In Lycra) any time soon. According to the latest Roy Morgan research, there has been a surge in more mature male cyclists over the last decade, with participation rates rising from 18 per cent to 26 per cent among men aged 35–49 years, doubling among men aged 50–64 (from 12 per cent to 24 per cent) and more than doubling from six per cent to 13 per cent among men aged 65+.
