Committed students in a quality assured study environment The biggest job and career fair in Denmark is held at DTU Lyngby Campus and offers enterprises the opportunity to introduce themselves to—and network with—our talented students. And they are very talented indeed! We at DTU simply do not recognize the image of lazy, uninspired students that is currently cropping up in the Danish media. Our students are highly motivated and innovative, they participate actively in projects and competitions, and they flock to the university’s innovation workshops to dive into experiments and test their ideas. At DTU, we refuse to compromise on the quality of our study programmes. This is reflected in the fact that our students receive an average of 20 hours of teaching per week, that fully 99.8 per cent of all teaching is conducted, and that the students are given a research-based education and taught by lecturers and professors who are active researchers themselves. That our uncompromising attitude to quality pays dividends was clearly evidenced in the ‘Survey of Graduates and Employers for DTU’s two-year MSc

Programme’, which was carried out by the analysis company Damvad in 2013. In this survey, 96 per cent of the graduates stated that they had completed a highquality study programme. Similarly, the employers stated that they generally view DTU graduates as academically very strong, and that they live up to the high demands made by industry. This naturally made for pleasant reading, but it takes more than talented students and researchers to make a technical university that ranks among the international elite. To achieve and maintain this level, a university must constantly provide state-of-the-art facilities and attractive campuses where it is inspiring to work, study and conduct research. In 2014, DTU will therefore be launching construction projects that comprise a total area of 55,000 m2, and renovation projects that cover a further 28,000 m2. Welcome to a campus in an ongoing state of change, and to the 2014 DSE fair. Anders Bjarklev President Technical University of Denmark
