LEICESTER COLLEGE

HELPING YOUR BUSINESS GROW The key to successful business growth is your employees: a motivated and highly-skilled workforce will advance your business, keeping you ahead of your competitors. The main benefits of developing your employees through quality training are: n Employees will be able to work more effectively due to an increased understanding of their roles. This will, in turn, lead to greater efficiency and increased productivity. n By ensuring employees have the right skills for the job, standards and timeliness will increase, reducing wastage of company resources and time. n Employees are more likely to feel empowered and motivated after relevant training, boosting loyalty levels and reducing staff turnover and the associated recruitment costs. Leicester College has an excellent track record of delivering effective training to organisations across the private, public and voluntary sectors. The college’s dedicated, employer-focused team offers a complete consultancy service to identify both individual and organisational training needs and find solutions to fit the way you work.

ACCREDITED TRAINING Accredited training to help you address your legal obligations as an employer can be delivered at college or on your site, at a time to suit you. This training includes HSE First Aid at Work, NEBOSH Occupational Safety and Health, and CIEH Food Safety. These short courses will enable your nominated employees to carry out their role according to recognised guidelines, reducing the risk of accidents and associated claims which can be costly for your business. Leicester College also offers Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) training for team leaders, supervisors and managers working at a range of levels, enabling them to refine their leadership skills.

NATIONALLY RECOGNISED QUALIFICATIONS NVQs help your experienced workforce to improve the skills they use every day while providing them with a nationally recognised qualification. Usually assessed in the workplace, with minimal disruption to work plans, experienced assessors will visit your employees and observe them carrying out a range of competencies which form part of their job.

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS TRAINING Regardless of the level of position within the company, employees can benefit from functional skills training. English and maths training helps to improve communication and standards across your organisation and are especially useful for employees who do not hold a recognised qualification in these subjects, or for those who would like to refresh or enhance their knowledge. The college can provide this training in a flexible way and can incorporate it within other training and development opportunities.

APPRENTICESHIPS For businesses keen to invest in their future, apprenticeships provide an opportunity to develop employees into more effective team members. Apprenticeships enable employees to spend one day a week in college with the rest of the working week in the workplace, using their newly-acquired skills to benefit your business.

Many employers use the college’s Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA) to hire and manage apprentices. The ATA matches a suitable apprentice to the organisation’s requirements – eliminating a costly recruitment process. The college then employs the apprentice directly whilst the organisation acts as their “host employer”. ATA pay their wages, manage their terms and conditions, holidays and sickness record – in effect, they act as an HR company. The host employer simply pays a monthly service fee (including the apprentice’s wage) directly to the ATA.

BESPOKE TRAINING The college also offers bespoke training developed specifically to tackle individual business needs and skills shortages. It offers nationally and internationally recognised qualifications and the college’s highly skilled tutors can design solutions for you which have measurable business outcomes. With experience of delivering training within all industries including financial services, health and social care, construction, engineering, hospitality, manufacturing, printing and many more, Leicester College is ready to help you succeed.

UNIQUE MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNTS As a Chamber of Commerce member you will receive: n 10% discount on training (terms and conditions apply) n 10% discount off combined food and drink bills when booking the college conferencing and banqueting facilities

FUNDING As well as supporting your training needs, Leicester College can identify and recommend potential sources of funding which may support your training fees. So, even in the current economic climate, there has never been a better time to make an investment in your employees: an investment today will secure your business’s success tomorrow.
