SHE’S BACK!

ROSÉ!

Catching up with Betsey and Lulu Johnson Will you be in the Hamptons this season? Betsey: Full speed ahead! We’ll be out there in June and July. There’s always a problem with the kiddies in August, because the mommy wants them this time and the daddy wants them this time. Lulu: I didn’t go out there last summer because of family matters; and we were working on the [reality] show. I’m really looking forward to it after being away for almost two years. Just being out there for a little bit this summer will be relaxing. Your summer todo list, please! Betsey: I want the Hamptons to make us feel alive again. I hope we’ll go to some great Lulu and Betsey charity events. Johnson You’ve got that great pool. Can we come swim? Betsey: We should throw a party together! I’m a horrible party thrower, but anytime you want to make a party, let’s do it!

Athena Calderone, interior designer: White fish dip from St. Peter’s Catch in Montauk with jalapeños and rice crackers. Andrew Saffir, founder, The Cinema Society Anything from Round Swamp Farms! Their pies are my favorite. Mickey Boardman, editorial director, Paper: My picnic basket always includes veggie hot dogs and agave ketchup. Also, I always carry sunblock because I’ll boil like a lobster without it. Cameron Silver, Dukes of Melrose: I don’t know. Ambrosia salad? I’m not exactly sure what it is, but it’s often at picnics. Dennis Basso, fashion furrier: Extra bottles of wine and a sketch pad. Joe Zee, creative director, Elle: Sweatpants and a steak.

What’s your summering ritual? In high school and college I was usually on location during the summer, but before that I was raised coming out to the Hamptons. Any particularly fond memories? We were in Southampton, so I remember Crutchley’s donuts, makers of the original donut hole. I loved those. I learned how to box-step, swim, and play tennis at the club out here. What about more recent ones? I stayed away from the Hamptons for a few years, but now I’m back a lot staying with friends because I have kids. All of our friends are out here. Do you always stay with the same ones? We go where we’re invited! B FA N YC . C O M ( 5 ) ; PAT R I C K M C M U L L A N .
