CPAmerica Insights New in 2023 - Staff training exclusively for CPAmerica member firms

As you’re reading this at the beginning of your busy season, the CPAmerica team is utilizing this period to reflect on the previous year and identify improvements to member services and internal processes. We look forward to collaborating and making adjustments during this time that will provide the best member experience in the year ahead.

Many of you know that CPAmerica programs are driven by member input, allowing us to deliver you relevant, highquality resources. During our conference travel last year, we uncovered the need for staff training based on member feedback.

A survey was sent to all firms in December to better understand staff training needs and gauge overall interest. Your feedback made it clear that the need for staff training exists and from there, we started brainstorming ways to best deploy staff training in 2023.

Tax Staff Training

Level II (4 days of training = 32 hours)

Date: June 27-30

Location: AICPA - Durham, NC

Instructor: Bill Harding and David Peters

Summary: Junior and senior staff can establish a strong set of skills in order to work with greater independence and expand their role in your firm. Level 2 will broaden their tax knowledge in the areas of the following:

1. Multistate taxation

2. C corporations

3. Accounting methods and periods

4. Choice and Formation of entity

5. Intermediate Individual Taxation

Key subject matters covered include inventory valuation and property transactions, which are essential for servicing more complex clients.

After thoughtful consideration, the association decided to partner with the AICPA to deliver in-person, Tax and A&A staff training, exclusively to CPAmerica member firms at the AICPA corporate office in Durham, NC. With the AICPA’s experience in delivering valuable staff training and connections to excellent instructors, it made sense to partner with them for a successful offering to member firms.

Level III of Audit Staff Essentials: Designed to deepen knowledge into investments, intangibles, goodwill, and other complex areas — the key to become a successful and well-rounded audit staff member.

Level IV: Gain a comprehensive knowledge base so you are wellprepared to become a well-rounded audit professional. Learn best practices on increasingly advanced audit topics as you explore complex topics like revenue recognition, income taxes, estimates and fair value, financial reporting, and the auditor’s report.

CPAmerica plans to open registration this month for Tax and A&A staff training. An announcement will be made to members once it is launched. We look forward to your firm’s participation!
