Russell’s work explores the persistence of ancestral memory in the decorative and performative modes of the human body. It considers temporality, memory, mysticism and migration as its major themes and is primarily concerned with narrative and figurative representations. Working across genres, his work employs photo, video, text, sculpture and performance.
