Some thoughts and notes on last night’s Canadian Premier League match are below: Pacius scores three and now leads the team in goals.

Woobens Pacius scored a hat trick to help lead the Hammers to a dominating 5-1 victory over FC Edmonton. The 21-year-old striker continues to impress with his recent run of good form, scoring five goals over the last five matches. With that, Pacius now has seven goals on the season and is second in the Canadian Premier League, just behind Pacific FC’s Alejandro Diaz, who has ten goals.

Additionally, Forge has scored 28 goals through 13 CPL matches, the most in the league, with Cavalry right behind them with 27. Forge also leads the league in shots on target per match with 4.6 and goals per match with 2.2.

Kyle Bekker scores an Olimpico at the end of the first half.

Forge captain Kyle Bekker scored a brilliant Olimpico goal in the dying seconds of the first half. Bekker stepped up to take the corner and shot the ball right into the bottom left of the net. A worthy goal for the Forge captain, and it’s the second Olimpico goal in the club’s history, with the first coming from Tristan Borges against the HFX Wanderers in 2019.

Forge extends its win streak to two games.

With the victory over FC Edmonton, Forge has extended their win streak to two games and remains fourth in the Canadian Premier League standings with 23 points for a record of seven wins, two draws and four losses. The Hammers have two games in hand over the league-leading Cavalry FC, who’ve played 15 matches for a record of 8 wins, four draws, three losses, and 28 points.

Forge has picked up three wins in their last five and will look to keep that momentum going when they host Valour FC at Tim Hortons Field on Saturday afternoon. Then, the Hammers will fly out west to take on Tommy Wheeldon Jr’s Cavalry side in another midweek meeting on Wednesday, July 27.

Dominic Samuel returns.

Forge defender Dominic Samuel returned to the lineup tonight after missing quite of bit of time, sidelined with a lower-body injury. Samuel recently resumed training with the squad last week and head coach Bobby Smyrniotis hinted that Samuel could see playing time this week. The defender was named as a substitute and later came on in the 66th minute, replacing right-back Rezart Rama, who has been nothing but quality for the Hamilton side.

For the first time in club history, Forge scored five goals in a match.

This match ended up having a couple of historic moments for the Hammers, with the five goal victory being the highest scoring match in the club’s history. Their previous highest scoring game was also against Edmonton, winning 4-3 on Tuesday, May 31.
