Golden implementing seasonal $100 parking tickets for 10th Street

Fee for 2023 outdoor dining program set at $1,100

Golden is increasing parking tickets from $30 to $100 along 10th Street. e increased violation fees begin June 15 and will last through the Labor Day weekend. e fees impact 10th Street between Washington Avenue and the Golden Community Center, and apply to a few surrounding lots as well.

It was part of an updated fee schedule from the city to address parking concerns.

During the April 25 City Council meeting, o cials discussed how, because it’s only a $30 ticket, people sometimes preferred to pay the ne rather than nd alternate parking. So, Golden sta ers hope a $100 ticket will disincentivize that behavior. e increase is part of a pilot program. City sta will monitor the impacts in the area and use that data to decide how to modify future management plans.

“It’s a massive strain on an already stressed parking situation,” said Mark Donohue, Golden Police Department’s support services commander.

City councilors worried the plan might lead visitors to park illegally in other areas, such as o 11th or 12th streets.
