Plug for unplugged THE stars of tomorrow will take centre stage this month for Kingston Youth Service’s Friday Night Unplugged at Kingston City Hall. Presented by Fuse Productions and FReeZA Push Start, Friday Night Unplugged will feature four talented young local performers or bands performing to an intimate crowd. The October 16 event is the third Friday Night Unplugged this year with young artists set to perform original and cover songs in an intimate and unplugged showcase. The FReeZA and Fuse Production event is an all-ages smoke, drug and alcohol-free event. Tickets $5 at the door. Friday Night Unplugged is on 6pm9pm on Friday 16 October at Kingston City Hall, 985 Nepean Highway, Moorabbin. AN estimated 10,000 cyclists took to the roads on Sunday in the 23rd annual Around the Bay – Ride for a Child in Need. Most of those opting for the longer 250 kilometre ride around Port Phillip had some relief from pedalling while aboard the Queenscliff-Sorrento ferry. However, the 28 members of the Pirates Sporting Club swapped handle bar for oars, rowing surf boats across the 12 kilometre stretch of water. Other riders followed courses ranging from 20 to 10 kilometres, including ones starting at Geelong and Sorrento. From the beach at Sorrento the Pirates were back on their bikes and heading to the finish along with every-
