Featured here are just a few of the incredibly dedicated volunteers who are an integral part of the SPCA family. We could not have survived 2020 without them. Pets entered foster care 4,251 times in 2020, with 2,032 pets getting adopted directly from foster care. (That accounted for 54% of adoptions!) Fosters offer animals nurturing and feeding when very
young, as well as socialization, training, a break from the shelter and time to recover and heal after surgery. Our marvelous volunteers have been so resilient this past year. With restrictions in place to limit the number of people in the building, they have found a myriad of creative ways to continue to support the pets in our care.
Pammy
Pammy was brought in as a stray in July. She seemed to be an overall healthy, happy kitten, but we noticed that she sort of stumbled. She was diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia, a congenital neurological condition that affects cats’ balance and fine motor skills. It sounds scary but is not progressive or lifethreatening. There are varying degrees of cerebellar hypoplasia, and Pammy’s condition is fairly mild.
She is truly living her best life wobbling around her new foster-turned-forever home with Danielle!
“We officially adopted her around Thanksgiving, and she was hands-down the best part of 2020 for us!” Danielle says.
“She walks, runs, plays, eats and uses the litter box all on her own. She is incredibly affectionate and sleeps with us every night. We absolutely adore her and could not be more thrilled that she is a part of our family. ”
