Cal Poly’s All-Division I Team (25 Years)

Cal Poly’s All-Division I Team for the first 25 years at the NCAA’s highest level includes three four-year letter winners — pitcher Joey Wagman (at top of page), third baseman Jimmy Allen (middle) and designated hitter Luke Yoder (bottom).

Four starting pitchers who combined for 95 wins, three Big West Conference Players of the Year, three Big West batting champions and eight All-Americans make up Cal Poly's AllDivision I Baseball Team over the first 25 years.

The team, which includes players from 1995 through 2019, features a quartet of starting pitchers, a closer, one catcher, a first baseman, six infielders, five outfielders, one designated hitter and a utility player.

Four players were Major Leaguers - pitcher Garrett Olson, shortstop Mike Miller, outfielder Logan Schafer and outfielder Mitch Haniger, currently with the Seattle Mariners.

All 20 members of the team played professional baseball.

The selection committee went as far back as 1996 in choosing second baseman Scott Kidd, the Big West batting champion in 1997 with a .412 average, and as recent as 2018 with the selection of catcher Nick Meyer.

Seven players were members of Cal Poly's 2014 Big West Conference championship team that hosted the NCAA Division I San Luis Obispo Regional inside Baggett Stadium, finished the year with a 47-12 record and was ranked No. 1 for a week by Collegiate Baseball.

That group includes starting pitchers Matt Imhof and Casey Bloomquist, closer Reed Reilly, second baseman Mark Mathias, shortstop Peter Van Gansen, third baseman Jimmy Allen and outfielder Nick Torres.

The three four-year letter winners on the squad are pitcher Joey Wagman, third baseman Jimmy Allen and designated hitter Luke Yoder.
