To the Media

The 2021 edition of the Cal Poly Baseball Team Information Guide is produced to assist the media in covering the Cal Poly baseball team. This guide will be supplemented throughout the season with news, notes and updated statistics.

Please feel free to ask the Athletics Communications office for any assistance you may need regarding information, arranging interviews or other issues that may come up.

Please review the following policies for the baseball season:

Media Credentials: Please direct all requests for media and photo passes for Cal Poly home games to Eric Burdick, Assistant Athletic Director for Communications, at (805) 756-6550. Please make all requests at least 24 hours in advance of the game.

Interview Policy: All interviews with Cal Poly head coach Larry Lee and Mustang players must be made through the Cal Poly Athletics Communications office at least 24 hours in advance. Arrangements will be made for telephone and in-person interviews at a time that is mutually agreeable, usually prior to or after practice.

Press Box Service: Pre-game notes, fact sheets, current statistics, media guides and programs will be available in the press box prior to the game.

Radio Broadcasts: One complimentary phone line will be made available to visiting radio stations. Contact Cal Poly Athletics Communications at (805) 756-6550 to make arrangements. An ethernet line and stat monitor are available as well.

Post-Game Procedures: Post-game interviews will be conducted approximately 10 minutes after the game on the field outside of the dugouts. Final box scores will be available to the media in the press box and on the field approximately five minutes after the game. Phone lines and ethernet ports are available for media use.

Mustang Practices: Cal Poly will practice weekday afternoons except Mondays. Players will be available for interviews before or after practice. Call the Athletics Communications office at (805) 756-6550 for practice times and to arrange interviews.

Mustangs on the Radio

For the 17th straight season, ESPN Radio (1280 AM / 101.7 FM) will broadcast Cal Poly baseball games this year. ESPN is in its 14th season as the flagship station for Cal Poly athletics.

Chris Sylvester is in his fifth year as the play-by-play announcer for Cal Poly.

Sylvester, who attended Cypress College, has previously performed the majority of his broadcast work in Southern California. Since 2011 he has broadcast games for Saint John Bosco High School in Bellflower and Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.

In addition to his play-by-play work, he has hosted shows on the Los Angeles Angels radio station AM 830 KLAA and more recently the L.A. Sports Report on the L.A. Kings radio station AM 790 KABC. Sylvester also has broadcast traffic reports on KFI and developed the Prep Sports Network.

When he's not talking sports on the mic, he's spending time with his family.
