Daniel Vogelbach ʼ11

Vogelbach completed his sixth season in Major League Baseball, playing in 93 regular season games for the National League Central champion Brewers. Vogelbach, who finished the season with the highest batting average in his MLB career, hit nine home runs on the season, including a walk-off grand slam in Milwaukee’s 6-5 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on September 5.

Joe Mera ʼ18

SAMFORD FOOTBALL

In his junior season with the Division I Bulldogs, Mera has played in every game as of press time for Samford. In the first five games of the season, Mera logged 12 total tackles, including seven solo stops. He also forced a fumble and logged a QB hurry in Samford’s contest against Tennessee-Martin, and recorded a quarterback sack the following week in a Samford victory over Western Carolina.

Andrew Palumbo ʼ11

PROFESSIONAL SOCCER Palumbo, who starred on Verot’s state championship team in 2010, has carved out a professional soccer career in Sweden. The midfielder currently plays for Vänersborgs IF, who play in the third division of Swedish football. Recently, Palumbo scored a goal in Vänersborgs’ 5-1 win over Lunds BK on September 11, finding the back of the net in the 54th minute.

Marc Taglieri ʼ20

BRYANT FOOTBALL

Taglieri scored his first career touchdown for the Bulldogs, which also served as his first career catch. The tight end hauled in a four-yard touchdown catch in Bryant’s game with NCAA Division I FBS Akron, a score that got the Bulldogs on the board.

Jeff Passantino ʼ14

PITTSBURGH PIRATES ORGANIZATION

Passantino moved over to the Pirates organization before the season, and played the entirety of 2021 with the Altoona Curve at the Double-A level. The righthander struck out 74 hitters in 76 innings of work, and walked just 20 hitters. Over his four seasons in professional baseball, Passantino has struck out 276 hitters and walked just 49.

Meagan Brown ʼ19

PALM BEACH ATLANTIC SOCCER After Brown’s sophomore season was cancelled due to the pandemic, the junior has played in six of PBA’s seven matches as of press time for the NCAA Division II Sailfish. In each of her six appearances, Brown has played at least 20 minutes on the field. In Palm Beach Atlantic’s first seven matches of the season, Brown aided a defensive effort that allowed just five goals total, and posted three shutouts.

Nicole Gulati ʼ21

WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY SOCCER

In her first season of college soccer, Gulati has immediately seen time on the field for Washington University in St. Louis. The freshman scored goals in back-to-back matches for the Bears, finding the back of the net in victories over WisconsinWhitewater and DePauw. As of press time, Gulati and the Bears held an undefeated record of 8-0-1.

Maddy Logan ʼ21

CULVER-STOCKTON VOLLEYBALL

Logan has appeared on the court for the Wildcats of Culver-Stockton College, an NAIA program in Missouri. In her freshman season, Logan played in eight of the team’s matches in the first stretch of the season. A setter, Logan recorded 44 assists, which included a season-high of 21 against William Woods. She logged 13 and added eight service aces, as well.
