Doctor in Architecture and Professor of Architectural Projects at the Madrid Architecture School (E.T.S.A.M.)

Architect and Associate Lecturer in Architectural Projects at the Madrid Architecture School (E.T.S.A.M.)

He holds a degree in Architecture from the Higher Technical School of Architecture in Madrid (ETSAM), a Master’s Diploma in Architecture from the University of Columbia, New York, and a Doctorate in Architecture. Professor Aparicio applies a three-fold approach to architecture through research, teaching and professional practice. As a researcher, he has enjoyed a Scholarship from the Academy of Spain in Rome, a Fulbright/MEC scholarship and a scholarship from Bankia. Full professor of Architectural Projects at the ETSAM and a guest lecturer and speaker at numerous architecture schools and institutions in Europe and America.

He holds a degree in Architecture from the ETSAM, part of the Madrid Polytechnic University, and he won the prize for excellence in projects in the Master’s Degree in Advanced Architectural Design at the GSAPP, University of Columbia in New York. As a researcher, he has earned funding from the Fulbright Foundation, the William Kinne prize or scholarships from the Social Council of the Madrid Polytechnic University. He has lectured as an Assistant Professor at the Barnard-Columbia College of Architecture. He is currently an Associate Professor of Projects at the ETSAM and at the Nebrija University in Madrid. Guest speaker, member of panels of judges for project designs, and director of architecture seminars at various European and American institutions.

The buildings designed by Professor Aparicio have received various nominations such as the ar+d Prize, the Architecture and Town Planning Prize from Madrid City Council, the HYSPALIT Brick Architecture Prize and the Saloni Prize. In 2000, he represented Spain at the Venice Architecture Biennale. In 2005, he was selected to take part in the Spanish Architecture Biennale. In 2008, he was nominated for the Klippan Prize as well as for the Swiss Architectural Award, and finally, in 2012, he won the 39th edition of the IIDA prize. Curator of the exhibitions entitled “Young Architects of Spain” (2006) and “Domusae, Spaces for Culture” (2010) and the editor of the collection on Ceramic Essays. Both his theoretical research and his architecture projects have received international acclaim and publication.

Deputy Curator of the “Young Architects of Spain” exhibition (2006) and Curator of “Domusae, Spaces for Culture”. His work has earned him the Architizer A+ prize in New York, the prize of the International Association of Interior Design in the United States, and the Prizes of the Professional Association of Architects in Madrid. He has also been shortlisted for the Archia and Enor prizes. His work, research articles and interviews have been published internationally and he edits several architecture catalogues.
