SEMANA SANTA EASTER WEEK Traditional

Spain's religious history comes alive during Easter. Barcelona's festivities aren't nearly as dramatic as those of Seville and other towns, but a couple of local churches and religious brotherhoods hold processions. FIRA PER LA TERRA EARTH FAIR Environmental & entertainment

This is Barcelona´s Earth Day festival. It aims to address our contemporary global ecological situation, underlining that everyone is responsible for participating in sustainability. There is always a large food market, with stalls selling local ecological produce such as cheese, honey and pastries. Food trucks offer ready-to-go meals which you can enjoy in the park. Education and activism are top of the agenda, supported by a packed programme of talks and presentations which include eveything from transformational projects to meditation groups and healing arts. Local yoga centres, alternative healthcare practitioners and community-oriented initiatives present their proposals and visions from stalls in the park. This Catalan festival combines Valentine’s Day, World Book Day and the legend of Sant Jordi (Saint George). Streets are lined with roses, books and romance as Catalonia comes together to celebrate its patron saint. This annual event was started by Andalusian immigrants in the 70’s and 80’s wanting to replicate their beloved Feria de Abril de Sevilla.
