With the new Kardashian Kids collection debuting this spring, Mini cover mom Kourtney Kardashian has truly come into her own as a parent.

The T mother of two (to son, Mason, and daughter, Penelope) recently invited Mini inside her Calabasas home to chat all things mommy chic, the new Kardashian Kids line (available now at Babies ‘R’ Us), and keeping up with her own Mini brood. But not only are the new Kardashian Kids pieces a breath of fresh, spring air, but the TV star’s home will give you that much needed boost and inspire you to get creative with your kids spaces this season.

MINI | We’re so excited to have you on our spring cover! Let’s get started talking about the new Kardashian Kids line. What was the inspiration behind the line?

KOURTNEY KARDASHIAN | I have always had a passion for children’s clothing. My mom and I opened up a children’s boutique called Smooch which we had for 5 years and I did all of the buying. My grandmother also has a children’s boutique called Shannon & Co. which she has had for 30 years and my sisters and I grew up working in. It is in our blood. Once I had my own children, I [found] a new appreciation, understanding and education about children’s clothes!

MINI | What can we find in the new Kardashian Kids collection?

KK | There is an assortment of caps, blankets, onesies, two-piece sets, jackets and dresses that are available in prints like butterflies, stars, leopard and polka dots for girls up to 24 months. I love the details we incorporated like layers of lace, pearl-embossed buttons and georgette appliques.

MINI | How do you see both you and your sisters’ style reflected in the Mini Kardashian collection?

KK | I love prints and color, Kim loves neutral, soft and simple, and Khloe has helped incorporate some trends from our women’s collection for Sears (color blocking, tribal print, animal print).

MINI | How is the line perfect for spring?

KK | This collection is perfect for spring because we went with a few different palettes to work into any wardrobe. There are leopard prints, butterfly prints and these adorable silver and gold stars that we just love.

MOM ADVICE On sharing mommy secrets with Kim: “The beauty of being a mom is finding your own special moments and I know that Kim is enjoying that very much.”

MINI | What spring style staples would you pair with pieces from the new Kardashian Kids line?

KK | To me, it is all about layering pieces and the accessories. The shoes make an outfit. I love a good ballet flat, moccasin or boot. The right head piece is everything.

MINI | You come from such a fashion-forward family, we’re certain your little ones will grow up to be style savvy just like you! Has Mason started showing you his own sense of style yet?

KK | Yes! Every day is different but he loves to dress himself and pick out his outfit every day.

MINI | You’re now a mom of two— how has your life changed to accommodate motherhood?

KK | If anything, I have a slightly more routine schedule just to keep things on track.

MINI | Moms must learn to juggle, but you especially! What do you think are the keys to finding the balance between work and kids?

KK | Knowing my priorities. Nothing comes before my children. I find that putting everything else in order of importance also helps to get everything done! Having an amazing partner, Daddy, does’t hurt either.

MINI | In your everyday routine, what are some of your favorite mommy moments?

KK | There are my two favorite parts of the day that are always the same. One is waking up next to their precious faces [and the other] is reading three books in bed with them to put them to sleep.

MINI | Busy moms also learn to look great on little time. What helps you to pull together a look when you’re in a rush?

KK | You can never go wrong with simple and classic. That is not how I usually dress, but when in a rush— it’s easy! A white T-shirt, skinny jeans, a black motorcycle jacket... easy and done.

MINI | We loved taking a peek inside your home! What was the inspiration behind the design of your kids’ spaces?

KK | I think every child’s room should have some magic in it. Those magical elements just came to life once the process began. In both of their rooms, I started wanting everything all white and they both evolved once I found the perfect pieces that I knew were for them.

MINI | What are some of your favorite elements in their rooms?

KK | I love the cloud wallpaper on the ceiling in Penelope’s room [and] I love the paper mâché animal heads from Anthropologie in Mason’s room.

MINI | We adore the striped kids tee pee in your home! What other sort of kid-friendly elements can we find throughout?

KK | We have a kids kitchen right next to our kitchen, another tee pee in the family room, some mini pianos in our living room next to the big piano, [plus] random cars, strollers and shopping carts floating around. Most of the kids items are in the playroom and in their bedrooms. We also have an outdoor kids space with an arts and crafts table, an easel, a fruit stand and a train set for the kids to ride on. This is a very kid-friendly home, to say the least!
