Svanøy

The Svanøy Bay, Svanøybukt, is a popular spot for holiday visitors. You’ll find a guest harbor, a general store and an inn. You can get a free map of the island and hire bikes at the general store. Cycling around this lush island is a fantastic experience. Why not ring +47 57 74 00 29 to reserve a bike in advance? At Svanøy Kro you can enjoy a delicious venison or salmon burger. The historic Svanøy Manor House is just 10 minutes’ walk from Svanøy Bay. 5 km from Svanøy Manor House is The Norwegian Deer Center, where you can experience deer at close quarters!

Kinn

Far out in the ocean gap, you can find the green, and gras covered, island Kinn, and its church and characteristic mountain site Kinnaklova. The excellent walking paths and hikes, and the short travel from Florø make Kinn a very popular destination all year around. The island is the home of the beautiful stone church from the Middle Ages. The church’s hosts will hold short prayers with song. There will also be a chance to buy coffee, water, chocolate, and cookies by the church. You can also use the toilets that are situated right by the church entrance.

Sørstrand

Sørstrand Folkepark is a recreation area two kilometers from the city center. From the parking spot it is one kilometers to the end of the trail. In the summer this is a very popular place to swim and play, especially for the kids.

Here you will find a sandy beach, walking trails, a barbeque area with tables and benches and a beach volleyball sand court. The area is accessible for wheelchairs. You can buy coffee and waffles from the café.

Brandsøyåsen

Brandsøyåsen (293 masl) is a popular hike and view point in Florø. From the top you can enjoy panoramic views of the fjords, mountains and islands surrounding the westernmost town in Norway. You can reach the top by foot or bike. There are several trails to the top and there you can follow signposts from the town centre of Florø. It takes about 2 hours to walk from the centre of the town to the top of Brandsøyåsen. The tourist information office has maps and tour descriptions.

Storeåsen/Litleåsen

Close to the city center you will find a great recreation area in Storeåsen, Litleåsen, around Storevatnet and Litlevatnet. It is nice to walk here on your way to Sørstrand or the Coastal Museum. There is a gravel road over Storeåsen and there are innumerable trails over the hills. In the hill you will find a bunker from WW2.

Flora Turlag – Local DNT

Flora Turlag arranges hikes in the afternoon on Mondays and in the middle of the day on Thursdays through the school year. From Easter to September they arrange afternoon hikes on Tuesday and Wednesday. You can also join in on a guided paddle group on Wednesdays, and weekends. Ausevika

Ausevika is one of the most extensive rock-carving sites in Norway, with figures dating back more than 3000 years. There are more than 300 carvings, of both animals and humans. Ausevika is visitor friendly, with a car park, footpaths, ramp access and info boards. Ausevika is situated approximately 40 minutes drive from Florø. You can follow a cultural trail at Ausevika when you are on the spot. Experience the fascinating history brought to life through video and audio stories on your mobile.

The coastal museum in Sogn og Fjordane

The Coastal Museum in Sogn og Fjordane showcases the natural and cultural history of the coast. The exhibition halls provide a glimpse of daily life on the coast, the development of the town of Florø, tools used for fishing and hunting, and a large collection of local boats. The museum is located on a lovely spacious coastal site within walking distance of Florø town center.

The coastal lottery

Can be found at the heart of Strandgata in Florø and is the beer café and test brewery for Kinn Brewery. The rear part of the premises contains the small brewery, where new recipes are tested. The Vesle Kinn microbrewery offers fixed guided tours in the summer, and all year on request. Visitors can enter the brewery premises and learn about the brewing process and the history of Kinn Brewery.

Havhesten

On rainy days you can go swimming at Havhesten in Florø, Havhesten offers a good choice of bathing articles/ activities for adults and children, and it is possible to rent bathing equipment.

Outdoor camp for children

Fjordane Friluftsråd organizes outdoor camps for children and young people aged 9-13. For more information, see fjordanefr.no/friluftsskule

Fløgjen is a popular hiking destination. The trail is 2,3 km and you will find the cabin at 444 masl. The trip takes about one hour. You can park at Grov.
