H. Hendy Associates, a private interior planning design firm whose major clients list from Disney Resorts, Microsoft, and Mazda, plans to expand nationally.

“Having Pattie Breland, her creative mind, and her experience is what we need. She will become a large asset towards our 5-year plan to expand into Chicago and New York. More than anything, we need to get more involved in today’s marketing world,” said Henri Hendy Breland’s role will manage the firm’s business development activities as well as working with firm’s design set and principles to help maintain new clients. Breland will also play a role in the companies marketing, exterior advertising, social media, and website. Her first day begins March 1.

Pattie Breland has over 20 years in the workforce. She graduated from Bassists College in Portland, Maine with a degree in interior design. After graduation, she was hired by PMLA (six years) and Leher McGovem Bovis (seven years). Recently, she worked as project manager at JCM Facilities Planning and Management where she managed corporate relocations and tenant improvements and assisted with the company’s marketing efforts, said Henri Hendy.

“With my past experience, I feel fully prepared to become H. Hendy Associates’ new marketing director,” said Breland.

Outside her work, Breland is married to Ken Breland as well as a mother of two children.

Breland is also a member of the International Development Research Corporation, The National Association of Industry and Office Properties, and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. ###

The product, Formula CIF, is available March 1 from any of the 435 Line-X dealers nationwide, said Burtin.

When applied by a Line-X trained professional, Formula CIF dries within five seconds without any dripping. Formula CIF costs $20 per square feet and comes in variety of colors including red, grey, yellow, brown, blue, beige, and green. Formula CIF can also be formulated into smooth, textured, and rigid surfaces and high temperature. Customers who will benefit from the product are businesses involved in mining, ranching, farming, construction, and shipping.

Because Formula CIF contains no volatile organic compound (VOCs), which may cause cancer, it is safe, said Burtin “This product brings us one step closer in creating products that will not only benefit our health, but ultimately improve our lives,” said Burtin.

The polyurethane elastomer in Formula CIF expands with the surface, preventing, cracks, corrosion, load slippage, while improving footing on wet surfaces, said Burtin. Formula CIF surfaces also tolerate hot and cold temperatures, as well as the sun’s ultraviolet rays, she said.

Contact: Astrid Martin marti405@mail.chapman.edu 310-801-1863 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FREE ENVIRONMENTAL WORKSHOP FOR 4-H CLUB STUDENTS BATON ROUGE—High school 4-H Club students in the state have the opportunity to participate in a free environmental workshop, sponsored by LSUAC (Louisiana State University Agriculture Center), said Fred Sanders, workshop co-director and extension water quality specialist for LSUAC. The free workshop, “Building Common Ground,” will be offered twice on March 22-24 and April 5-7. The workshop, takes place at Camp Grant Walker. Students can register online at lsuac.edu/workshop before March 1.

“This workshop will enable the participants to experience the process of resolving complicated issues. It is a hands-on program where participants discuss and try to solve the issues harming our environment,” said Bill Branch, workshop co-director and extension soil quality specialist for LSUAC. Participants will discuss the top 10 threats to the state as determined by LEAP (Louisiana Environmental Action Plan), an organization formed after Hurricane Katrina (2006) by governor at the time, Kathleen Blanco, with the goal to identify the environmental issues facing Louisiana.

During the workshop students, who will be staying in cabins, will brainstorm solutions to those issues, said Anthony Diamond, chairman of LEAP. On the last day of the workshop students and their groups have the opportunity to present their ideas in front of LEAP chairman, Anthony Diamond. Students will earn co-curricular credit at the end of the workshop.

In their leisure time, participants can play tennis, go horseback riding, or swimming, and play softball.

“We believe it’s essential that high school students begin discussing environmental problems because they’ll be facing them when they’re adults,” said Sanders.

Busses will provide transportation from New Orleans, Alexandria, Lafayette, and Shreveport to the camp. Students must bring their own bedding and toiletries, said Branch. ###

Contact: Astrid Martin marti405@mail.chapman.edu 310-801-1863 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEWPORT HARBOR ART MUSUEM IN NEED OF DOCENTS NEWPORT BEACH, CALIF. —The Newport Harbor Art Museum seeks docents, volunteers, as it opens a new wing featuring the largest American Folk art collection in the world valued to be $435 million, said Joao Mejia, museum curator A potential volunteer, must love art, be at least 18 years of age, and be outgoing, said Hilary Wolf, director of volunteers.

Volunteers must make a one-year commitment to working at least eight hours per month, said Wolfe. Those interested must attend the museum’s coffee reception at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 9. Potential volunteers must attend two weekend trainings, offered Friday March 15 at 7 a.m.-10 p.m. to Sat. March 16 at 8 a.m.-12 p.m. As well as, Sat. March 22 at 7 a.m.-10 p.m. to 23 at 8 a.m.-12 p.m.

As volunteers of Newport Harbor Art Museum, benefits will be included. From free admission for both them and their family, as well as access to the museum’s facilities, such as the sculpture garden, for discounted prices.

“For our new American Folk art collection, we knew that this would be a great opportunity to expand the Newport Harbor Art Museum. This expansion will be an exciting experience for our present and perspective docents,” said Wolf.

Elizabeth Harrison, a 30-year museum board member, donated the collection, which includes a handmade 1750’s rocking chair, original works of Norman Rockwell, as well as works from Grandma Moses.

"As the last member of the Harrison family, creating a permanent home for the collection was important to me," said Elizabeth Harrison.

John and Barbra Suttmiller were the primary donors for the $15 million wing. After the couple first met at the Newport Harbor Art Museum, they had a special nostalgia for the museum.

"Expanding the museum to house the new collection only seemed right," said Barbra Suttmiller. ###

Veston Rowe Bio Writer, professor, and devoted friend. Veston Rowe describes himself as a small-town boy, but his abilities and accomplishments say otherwise.

With 24 years at Chapman, Veston was named one of the 150 influential faces in Chapman University for the 150th Anniversary of Chapman. Starting out as admissions publications coordinator (1989-1990) as well as director of publications and creative services (1990-2000) his love for writing and his eye for what’s eye-catching allowed him to win several awards for his publications, said Janell Shearer, chair of the Media Arts division in Dodge College Film and Media Arts.

Veston eventually began teaching in 1989 within the journalism department. By 2010, Veston became an associate professor for the public relations and advertising department at Dodge College.

“I always knew writing would be part of my life. I told my Dad at a young age that I wanted to be a writer and a teacher.”

However, the opportunities he has within the Chapman community would not be possible if it wasn’t for a high school friend and former Chapman admissions director urging him to move to California.

With a house paid by Chapman University, in addition to three people planning to move to California, Veston finally moved to California.

Veston grew up in Enid, Okla., a place he claims as the culture center of the universe.

Surrounded by three sisters and raised in a Catholic family, Veston said he was painfully shy as a child. However, staying active at his church in addition to long hours working at JC Penney, it was apparent that Veston was a hard worker.

"May my ashes be spread on that JC Penney parking lot,” said Veston reflecting on his several trips transporting carts of merchandise even during the winter.

Earning his bachelor’s at Phillips University in mass communications and a master’s in journalism at University of Oklahoma, Veston earned an internship at Phillips University after impressing a professor.

From there, Veston eventually turned his career into a position as director of public relations and publications after proving his boss he was capable of handling PR. Throughout the years, Veston has proven himself as a good friend after allowing his friend Sparker and his family to stay at his home after losing their house through foreclosure. From that time on Veston has become a new member of the Mejia family and an occasional babysitter on his spare time.
