ATC Hosts Night Court Session in Partnership with Albany Works! Program

Albany Technical College (ATC) hosted a Night Court Session in partnership with the City of Albany’s Municipal Court and Community Court on October 20, 2022. This pilot program aims to provide resources and support for individuals facing offenses in the court system, and offers a convenient option for those who may have difficulty attending court during regular business hours.

ATC Dean of Academic Affairs, Kenneth Singleton stated, “Being physically located in a section of our community that would benefit from the court’s Albany Works! program, we were delighted to offer the use of our Moot Court classroom for the planned Night Court Session.”

The Albany Works! program is a community-based initiative that aims to support individuals as they navigate the court system and work towards self-sufficiency. This includes providing access to educational and social resources, as well as connecting individuals with employment opportunities and other support services.

By hosting the night court sessions at ATC, the college is able to offer a convenient and accessible location for individuals to participate in the Albany Works! program and work towards resolving their legal issues. This type of community-based approach to the justice system can help to better serve the needs of individuals and support their efforts to turn their lives around.

The Night Court Session is an effort to meet community needs and provide connections to social and educational resources to support individual pathways to self-sufficiency. This is in line with the mission of Albany Works!, which aims to help individuals with offenses before the court by offering classes as a way to better themselves and be part of a community effort.

ATC is committed to supporting the community and offering resources to help individuals overcome challenges and achieve self-sufficiency. By hosting the Night Court Test Session, ATC is able to provide a space for the Albany Works! program to meet the needs of the community and offer valuable resources to those who may benefit from them.
