About the position

As a Packaging Scientist for Yates, you will manage the technology that falls into the home garden plant health, plant protection and ‘other’ categories, ensuring that Yates delivers product innovation.

This opportunity plays a critical role in the future growth of the Yates business through delivery of category leading innovation and sustained leadership of product stewardship initiatives and will work closely with other functions within the Yates business including Procurement, Marketing, Supply chain and other members of the R&D team to develop packaging solutions.

Responsibilities

• Generate new packaging products in response to project development briefs.

• Run scientifically robust manufacturing trials to validate packaging suitability, provide successful product launches and any other trials deemed necessary to de-risk project delivery.

• Prepare written reports of trial outcomes and recommendations.

• Ensure commercialisation documentation such as specifications, tech packs, INOMF, Gate paper checklists are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

• Develop enduring relationships with new and existing key technology partners.

Skills & Experience

• Ideally, a tertiary qualification in a scientific or engineering discipline.

• Ability to translate technical data into consumerfriendly content.

• Proven experience within the packaging space, designing experiments and trials to validate suitability of packaging innovation.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• The ability to seek out improvements and drive process enhancements.
