The Acer Project is an educational project that began as my senior project as a student at Sterling College. Through my time at Sterling, it went through design and development of the conceptual framework. Since leaving the college, I have been developing the project further, enhancing the class offerings, editing syllabi, designing lesson plans, and working with Seth Tempel on graphic design. It is my hope that this project will develop into an alternative education project at a sponsor site in the near future.
The mission statement from the program manual:
“The Acer Project uses identity and place as a framework for students who are seeking an alternative route in their education; it empowers students to practice skills and develop content knowledge in the areas of english, social studies, and science through a place-based service learning, experiential education, and student-focused alternative education program.”
