A place of sanctuary in Santanyí A new holistic retreat on Mallorca focuses on the mind-bodyspirit connection, to help guests recuperate, rejuvenate, and relax. Jan Edwards went to visit Cal Reiet Holistic Retreat in Santanyi. The name is Mallorcan for ‘house of the little king’ and, with its large iron-gated entrance and distinctive officially protected façade, it looks regal. In 1881 the Catalan Escalas i Garau family built Can Reiet – still a house of reference in Santanyí, and in the street of the same name. It stayed in the same family until around 30 years ago, when English people bought it as a holiday home. Local children used to be invited on school outings here. It even appeared in episodes of the German TV soap ‘Verbotene Liebe’ (‘Forbidden Love’). Petra and Henning Bensland recognised a spirit of generosity about the place, and bought it in 2012. With their interest and belief in the mind-body-spirit connection, they would turn Cal Reiet into one

El nombre significa ‘casa del pequeño rey’ en mallorquín y una vez llegando a Cal Reiet verás una gran entrada de hierro y una distintiva fachada que, efectivamente, tiene un aspecto noble. En 1881, la familia catalana Escalas i Garau construyó Can Reiet – una casa de referencia hasta el día de hoy de las calles de Santanyí, situada en una calle del mismo nombre. La misma familia la mantuvo hasta hace 30 años, cuando una familia inglesa compró la propiedad, convirtiéndola en su casa vacacional. Los niños locales iban a conocer la propiedad mediante excursiones escolares. Incluso apareció en episodios de la telenovela de televisión alemana llamada ‘Verbotene Liebe’ (‘Amor prohibido’).

Ein neues, holistisches ‘Retreat’ auf Mallorca konzentriert sich auf die Verbindung von Geist, Körper und Seele, um den Gästen zu helfen, sich zu erholen, sich zu regenerieren und zu entspannen. Es blieb im Besitz der Familie bis vor ungefähr 30 Jahren, als Engländer es als Ferienhaus erstanden. Einheimische Kinder wurden oft auf Schulausflüge in das Haus eingeladen und es tauchte sogar in der deutschen Serie ‘Verbotene Liebe’ auf.
