park] over ideas. Earlier this year I got the okay to start designing, and I’ve been out there about every week now, getting holes ready to go. We’ve designed it so that it’s played at a higher level than any of the other courses around here. We’ve definitely put the time and effort into it to make it a destination spot. People are gonna want to travel there and play. It’s a challenging and fun course that’s not going to punish new players. For anyone considering taking up disc golf, what do you think makes the sport special? Most people don’t know that disc golf is the fastest growing sport in our country right now. It’s also a sport that anyone can enjoy, regardless of age, size, or gender. Disc golf is free to play on most courses and offers a great way to stay healthy and enjoy nature with family, friends or even on your own. I have seen a lot more families and kids out on the courses over the past few years, as well as the number of older people picking up the sport. The best thing about disc golf is the camaraderie between people. You can go on a course and just make a friend instantly out of a common love of the sport. The Inspiration Hills course grand opening and Harvest Festival on October 11 includes a 5k, cookout, disc golf tournament and more. The course will be free to play. McLarty’s other upcoming projects include an 18-hole, championship-level course that has been approved for Union Grove Park in Beresford.
