Founded in 1912, Reddish Vale Golf Club is home to a magnificent golf course which was designed by world famous golf course architect, Dr Alistair MacKenzie. One of the most interesting and spectacular golf courses in Manchester, Reddish Vale has a proud history, whilst keeping abreast of modern technology to drive to club forward into the future. Set in an urban area secluded from the outside world, RVGC is situated six miles from the centre of Manchester but a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of city life. 100 acres of picturesque parkland creates a quirky and fun golf course with risk and reward a prominent feature as with many of MacKenzie’s designs. Rich in natural features, hazards and magical contours; the course measures 6,000 yards in length and presents an enjoyable yet stern challenge for even the most accomplished of golfer.

In May 2023 the club was proud to host the very prestigious Cheshire Matchplay Championship , having the counties best golfers compete over 4 days , with many plaudits from those competing/officiating and watching . On the back of successfully staging this competition the county has arranged for two of their fixtures to be staged at Reddish Vale in 2024! South Cliffe House - the Reddish Vale clubhouse is a stone built manor house which has overlooked the Vale since Victorian times. Boasting breath-taking panoramic views of the golf course and beyond, as far as the Peak District, the recently refurbished clubhouse building features fresh, modern décor whilst showcasing the traditional elements of the game.

Ingestre Park Golf Club In 2013 it was announced that the proposed path of the new high speed train was to go through Ingestre Park Golf Club. Fast forward to 2021 and it was with great excitement that MJ Abbott, contractors, started work on a truly fantastic course design by International Design Group, course architects. Over the past two years we have seen the creation of the new holes develop and in April this year the first three new holes opened much to the delight of those who have played them, with comments such as ‘very impressed’ and ‘really enjoyed playing them’. It is therefore with much eagerness we wait for the remaining holes to ‘grow-in’ and open for play. Jon Hunt, Golf Course Architect "I am thrilled to announce that our newest creation is nearing opening. This course has been in the pipeline for over a decade, and we have poured our hearts and souls into its design to create a truly exceptional golfing experience.

The course is set in the stunning Staffordshire countryside, nestled among rolling hills and ancient woodlands. The course features 13 brand new holes and 5 renovated holes, all with their own unique challenges. The course is designed to be challenging yet fair, with a variety of tee boxes to accommodate golfers of all skill levels. One of the highlights of the course is the signature 18th, a mid-length par three that requires golfers to hit their ball over a large water hazard to reach the green. It's a thrilling shot that will test even the most seasoned golfer's nerves. On the old course, most tee shots required a central playing line with little strategy. Now, each hole has a playing strategy of its own, where every club in the bag is used, and every shot type tested. Take the new 5th for example: A strong tee shot will be played left across the creek to a narrow fairway for an easier line into the diagonal green. The weaker tee shot is rewarded by a wide open fairway but a much more difficult line into the green.

A new automatic irrigation system was installed to tees, greens, approaches and the centrelines of the fairways to maintain great conditions throughout the summer. This is all assisted by the installation of 3 large lakes which will store water that is harvested from the surrounding drainage system. We have incorporated natural features like streams and wetlands into the design, creating stunning vistas and a dynamic playing experience. All the greens have been rebuilt to USGA recommendations meaning a perfect growing medium for the bentgrass greens and resulting in a reliable and enjoyable putting surface. Some of the greens have significant movement in them so watch out for the breaks! We are confident that Ingestre Park will become a beloved destination for golfers from across the country as well as a fantastic new course for the hundreds of members. "

On the first site visit, we knew the construction of the new course would be a challenge. The majority of the site was relatively flat and open farmland and we would have to work hard to ensure the course didn’t feel like playing in a field. In addition, the drainage would be a serious task as the new land was often flooded. Both new and renovated areas of the course have had the benefit of a new subsurface drainage system with 100mm pipes laid at 6m centres across the turfgrass. The new topography of the course, along with this drainage system will ensure the course can open year round with no days lost to soggy ground conditions. A significant part of the new drainage system requires open ditches and these have been used to inform the playing strategy so choose wisely off the tee.

Final words from the Club “This project is very special indeed and has brought together the very best teams and companies in the industry to create, what will be, an unquestionably exceptional golf course at Ingestre Park. We look forward to seeing you!”
