They may not be as noticeable as other murals, but a Miramar business group is proud of the area’s flora and fauna being etched into public consciousness. The new bus shelters on Miramar Ave feature printed artworks based on the designs of local artists approved by Enterprise Miramar (also known as Miramar BID) and Greater Wellington Regional Council. A spokesman for the council says it has been encouraging such artworks as a way to deter vandals from etching and tagging the fibreglass panels, which has been a serious problem at bus shelters throughout the region.
