Piping ‘rock star’ for games THE HORORATA Highland Games chieftain Kyle Warren is somewhat of a piping rock star. Born in Scotland, Mr Warren immigrated to Australia at the end of 2014. He has released two piping albums with KRL records and also toured world-wide with the Red Hot Chilli Pipers performing their unique mix of bagpipes and rock music – ‘Bagrock’. Mr Warren (above) more recently recorded pipes on the Disney Pixar Oscar winning movie Brave. He said he was looking forward to his role at Hororata. “I have been to many Highland Games around the world and am

Disgust over cattle grazing at Coes Ford •From page 1 “The Selwyn itself, just down from Coes Ford, has been a disgusting looking green river for a long time and just to add to the problem with cattle only a few metres away, I just thought it was disgusting.” Mr Curtis said the incident was particularly poor with the focus which had been on the state of the river in recent times

and because at other times people often used the area where the cows were fenced in for picnicking. ECan principle resource management adviser Richard Purdon said grazing cows on the river’s edge would require a resource consent on the land upstream of Coes Ford and downstream it would be a prohibited activity for which no consent could be

granted. “We are very pleased that the Selwyn District Council acted so promptly to remove the cows immediately and deal with the lease to prevent this from occurring again and have indicated this to them,” Mr Purdon said. Last week cows were filmed grazing on ECan land leased by the New Zealand Transport Agency on the edge

of the Otukaikino Creek in Christchurch. ECan said the land had been accessed by a farmer without NZTA’s consent. The district council did not respond to questions from the Selwyn Times. •HAVE YOUR SAY: How do you feel about cows being grazed at Coes Ford? Send your view to tom.doudney@ starmedia.kiwi

CORRECTION In last week’s election coverage, the Selwyn Times incorrectly referred to Rosalie Snoyink as a candidate for Environment Canterbury’s Mid Canterbury constituency. In fact the candidate was Nicky Snoyink. The Selwyn Times apologises for the error. TRULY LOCAL & PROUD OF IT

Its an exciting time to be part of the fabric of Rolleston and the wider Canterbury and Selwyn regions. We are growing and the 150th Birthday celebrations this past weekend were testament to the strength and confidence that exists here and now.

Brenna Sincock Hearing is proud to be part of this community and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to come out to the celebrations. Thank you to all the people who came and had a chat to us at our stand and made us feel so welcome. It was a busy weekend for Brenna Sincock Hearing! The Canterbury Home Show at Horncastle Arena was a huge success, as was the Ellesmere A&P Show. “My point of difference in audiology and hearing health is that I bring all the experience of the bigger companies, but I take a more personal approach,” says Brenna.

“One can’t take a “cookie cutter” approach to hearing, it requires empathy and taking considerable time listening to customers for them to get the most out of their hearing aids.” “Going to these local shows and events is important to me. I value the conversations and being able to share and promote not only my business, but my passion for hearing well and the unmeasurable impact this can have on quality of life.” Brenna Sincock Hearing is Rolleston’s only full-time and locally owned hearing aid clinic. With the commitment to the wider area, Brenna does regular clinics in Leeston, Darfield and now Lincoln. Determined to provide a one stop shop for all audiology needs. Her personal approach and her vast experience in the profession make her the audiologist of choice in the area. “I have been thrilled with the number of people who have “switched” and chosen to

Faye Leathwick AKA HearOine

have me as their personal audiologist,” says Brenna. “It’s a vote of confidence from locals and confirmation that Rolleston needed my expertise.”
