Bar in Riccarton’s Windmill Centre, Rodney’s focus is on creating the hair to match the lifestyle. “It’s all about getting 80 percent of the hair for 20 percent of the effort,” he laughs. “Everyone wants Hollywood hair, but when you’re in Hollywood you spend four hours getting your hair done every day.” And nobody has time for that! Thankfully Rodney can teach you all the tricks of the trade so you can look like you’ve just stepped off the catwalk, with minimal time and fuss. He has been using Wella products for more than 13 years and is highly proficient in what the company offers in both their colour and styling ranges, ensuring he can recommend the best products and latest styling tips. Rodney regularly attends Wella workshops and photo competitions, as well as keeping up with the trends both here and overseas to ensure he is up with the play. “Christchurch is fairly conservative, so it’s great to be able to tweak and tame the looks you might see in Sydney or Melbourne.” Owned by Sue Wootten for more than 25 years, the stylish, modern salon offers much more than somewhere to get your hair done. It’s a place to relax, unwind and offload. “The role of a hairdresser is one part hair and one part counsellor,” Rodney laughs. “What we offer here is somewhere for people to just relax and have a coffee after a rough day.
