Gold, Silver-Gilt and Enamel Hand Mirror by Fabergé

Silver-gilt and gold octagonal Fabergé hand mirror, the exterior border with opalescent translucent white enamel over etched guilloché ground, further decorated with gold floral ornament. The reverse also with white border mounted with gold rosettes; the centre set with a gold foliate wreath on deep green guilloché enamel over moiré ground.

The hinged swivel-shaped handle with deep green guilloché enamel on both sides with neo-classical gold ornaments. The mirror design is illustrated in Golden Years of Faberge, Drawings and Objects from the Wigström Workshop by Ulla Tillander-Godenhielm (Alain de Gourcuff, 1999). The sketch with the mirror appears on page 73, accompanied by a handwritten number 12536 and the date 21/VII 1911.
