For 54 years, OQHA has been committed to setting the standard in the equine industry by engaging equine enthusiasts through world-class competition, recreational activities, education, and engagement of the next generation of participants and industry leaders.

Mid Ohio Dressage Association (MODA) hosted The Mid Ohio Dressage Classic July 1618 at Brave Horse in Johnstown, Ohio. Now in its 42nd year, this USEF/USDF Level 3 dressage show is one of the oldest recognized shows in the country.

With over 647 tests ridden by 195 entered horses; the Quarter Horse proudly went down center line. In dressage shows, AQHA horses do not compete separately. They are shown within levels (Training through Grand Prix) with all breeds included. This year’s Classic featured horses from over thirty-five breeds. Winning the AQHA Breed Award was Smokin Custom Crome owned and ridden by Kristin Patton of Four Star Quarter Horses in Ostrander, Ohio. Crome (pictured) competed in First Level and won his breed division award with a 69.429 in First Level test 2 Amateur. Corinthia Shupp’s Count Me Blessed was a close second for the AQHA breed award scoring a 69.138 in Training Level test 2. Show Manager, Beth Baryon, reports that there were over 512 volunteer hours that led to the success of one of the biggest Classics in recent years. With four rings and five judges, each volunteer gave their all to keep the show moving despite the rain showers.
