“I told her straight up that I was bisexual and it didn’t stop anything from happening...It was actually an amazing experience because I’d never felt so free and open with anybody, to be honest. It wasn’t until I had somebody like that to truly affirm and accept me completely that I really was like, this feels good, this feels natural.”

—Fred, a Black Bisexual man In conversation with Darian Aaron, 2020 for TheReckoningmag.com, about Fred’s experience with a Black girlfriend during undergraduate study at an Alabama HBCU

“I’m only really interested in telling stories that I connect to on a deep level, and I knew I had this story that was about me, but it just didn’t exist...I definitely want to have a conversation around Black masculinity, and I want to explore it within the context of the Black community and the queer community... There’s so many men who suffer from not being able to have this conversation...and I want to help reshape that conversation because I feel like there’s a lot of people —Travonsuffering.”Free, in conversation with Raquel Willis, for Out.com, on January 10 2019

“She was incredible and deserved so much more. She received so much biphobia after she broke up w/Ellen & everyone called her a fake lesbian, then wrote a book about her childhood abuse & everyone called her crazy.” Moore, August 12, 2022 on Twitter

In 1997 an American Blonde actress with three films released that year a Blonde White Actress meeting all the requirements of Male Gaze Consensus deliberately chose to date an out lesbian, Ellen DeGeneres, who came out four months earlier on the Oprah show. Anne Heche was warned that being out alongside her girlfriend would not boost her career. After three films with three male leading men (Pacino, Depp, Tommy Lee Jones), Anne came out as Ellen’s partner and was blacklisted from Hollywood.

“And we went to the premiere — these are the stories that I know people don’t know — we went to the premiere, we were tapped on the shoulder, put into her limo in the third act and told that we couldn’t have pictures of us taken at the press junket. And both she and I were fired that week.”

The reaction to Angelina Jolie and Evan Rachel Wood’s allegations is exactly why bisexual women are more vulnerable to domestic violence”

— Hannah Mackenzie, Glamour UK, 24 August 2022

The misconception bi women face is the idea that you can’t trust us to be faithful because we’re fetishized as being insatiable. This then fuels abusive partners’ jealous, controlling, possessive and violent tendencies,” says Lois Shearing, founder of Bi Survivors Network.

Numerous pieces of research have found that bisexual women are more likely to experience intimate partner violence than either straight or gay women. They’re also nearly five times as likely to have experienced sexual assault by a partner or ex-partner than their heterosexual counterparts.
