ABOUT THE MAIMONIDES SOCIETY
In 1987, wanting to give back to our Jewish community and beyond, Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley doctors Michael Ufberg z”l, Lawrence Levitt, Stuart Schwartz z”l, Ian Carlis and Gene Ginsberg formed the first Maimonides Society. The society was named after Rabbi Moses Ben Maimon (also known as Maimonides). Our Maimonides Society was the first in the nation, setting a positive example for other Federations to follow.
The Maimonides Society is at the forefront of both philanthropy and service in the Lehigh Valley Jewish community. This is the place for physicians, surgeons, dentists and other healthcare professionals — people dedicated to healing the sick and committed to the notion of tikkun olam (repairing the world). The society also provides a unique opportunity for healthcare professionals to connect to a cause they care about and to one another.
