WHAT’S INSIDE

About Our Cover

The cover of the 2023 LIFESTYLE 4 Birmingham Bloomfield is brought to you through the courtesy of the City of Birmingham and Joel Ingersoll of @detroitdronecompany. It features Booth Park which is located on North Old Woodward at the corner of Harmon, across the street from Salvatore Scallopini.

It features an expansive playscape, a labyrinth and tunnel, a turf hill and amphitheater and Birmingham’s second Little Free Library. With the 2020 Birmingham Parks and Recreation Bond Booth Park is scheduled to receive a new entranceway featuring a plaza, gardens, additional seating and restroom facility.

Recreation and parkland are extremely important to the residents of Birmingham, which passed a comprehensive Parks and Recreation Bond in 2020 with over 70% approval of voters. The city boasts 2 nine-hole golf courses, a newly renovated ice arena, an outdoor ice rink, a dog park and 6 expansive community parks. Add in neighborhood parks, mini parks, the River Rouge Trails and the Birmingham Museum and you have a full slate of options for residents to enjoy 24/7/365.

Booth Park was chosen for the cover because it serves as an oasis for the north end of Old Woodward. It’s an easy stroll from Birmingham’s bustling downtown area, with nearby dining options, shopping options, and most of all, a peaceful setting where individuals and families can decompress and enjoy each other’s company. From Booth Park it is only a few blocks to the River Rouge Trails, or you can go back downtown to catch a fair, an outdoor concert, or some other activity at Shain Park. (Hopefully, you’re beginning to understand why Birmingham is ranked as one of the “Top 20 Walkable Cities”.)

The cover of the 2023 LIFESTYLE 4 Birmingham Bloomfield is meant to be an inspiration to experience the park resources you will find in every neighborhood or public area of Birmingham. Bloomfield Township has developed a system of Safety Paths that extend throughout the township so walkers, hikers and bikers can connect with the natural beauty of the area. Bloomfield Hills has the unique Cranbrook community and Beverly Hills contributes Beverly Park, a disc golf course and an active recreation program. Long story short – Birmingham Bloomfield has all the parks, recreation programs and facilities that other communities envy. Go out and enjoy them!

the 5 B’s and Franklin

Birmingham Bloomfield is comprised of six communities - Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Bingham Farms, Beverly Hills and Franklin. It is a highly sought after area for shopping, living and investment. While the Birmingham Bloomfield community represents upscale living at the upper end of the Telegraph and Woodward Corridors in Oakland County, each community has its own individual personality.

Birmingham, with its central downtown shopping district, has a more urban quality with high-end retail, restaurants and varied housing options. Franklin gives a glimpse of the past with its quaint district of boutique shops and eateries, along with a neighboring cider mill. Bloomfield Hills has large homesteads in beautiful settings and a community of historic distinction – the Cranbrook Educational Community. Bingham Farms and Beverly Hills are mostly residential and serve as bedroom communities to Birmingham and Detroit. Both have areas of commerce, along Telegraph Road and Southfield Road. Bloomfield Township is more suburban with most of its residential areas in well maintained subdivisions, with retail along Telegraph Road and shopping areas at major intersections. These distinctive personalities lend themselves to a diverse blend of residents and lifestyles, which extends to the retail and restaurant offerings and to those who come to visit. Birmingham Bloomfield’s location also makes it convenient to the vast number of cultural and recreational assets that are available in Metro Detroit and Southeast Michigan.

It does not matter if you are a long-time resident, business owner, newcomer or visitor, there is so much here in Birmingham Bloomfield to constantly explore and enjoy!
