Things You Don’t Know About Me … Alexis Scott

1. The first horse I ever rode or handled … aside from the

random pony rides at the fair and various other places, I really rode and handled by myself, my pony JJ. I received him as a Christmas gift from “Santa Claus,” and he’s who I learned how to ride on.

2. My happiest moment with a horse ... is hard to pick just one.

I could pick a victory pass or a special win, but really it’s the down time; when I can just be around the horses, and love on them and bond with them; that’s what makes me the happiest.

3. The first ribbon I ever won was ... lead line at the Iowa Spring Show in 1993.

4. My first influence in the horse industry was ... Leah Golladay.

She’s going to laugh at this, but she’s who I really idolized as a young rider. She was and still is fearless with the horses, and her natural ability to bring out the best in the horses she rode/rides/works with still amazes me.

5. The first breed of horse involved with was ... Arabians, of course!

6. The age I got involved with horses was ... the ripe old age of four. I say “ripe old age” because my little cousin is two-and-a-half and she’s already riding, so it makes me feel like I started really late!

7. The first thing I do when I get to the barn is ... kiss my Gypsy horse, Derby, good morning.  8. The last thing I do when I leave the barn is ... kiss my Gypsy horse good night.

9. The greatest horse I’ve ever ridden is ... and always will be, Conway. He was one of those once-in-a-lifetime horses. There’s really not enough words to describe how special that horse is to me.

10. The most gratifying part of my job is ... being able to witness the moments when a horse and rider come together.

It’s so awesome, even if it’s just a lesson student and one of the lesson horses. The moments when the “lightbulb” clicks on are the best!

11. My favorite restaurant is … Cabo Sol, a little Mexican restaurant about three miles from my house. My fiancé and I go there at least once a week.

12. My favorite non-horse hobby is ... pinning pictures and links of other people’s hobbies on Pinterest; as close to having a hobby as I get.

13. My favorite genre of movie is ... Horror and anything written/directed/produced by Tim Burton.
