Its all about memory. Self-identity is one of the most important aspects of our existence. Every entity, whether biological or mechanical, must process, store and retrieve information in order to grow and thrive. It’s all about memory. And how it helps us adapt to the evolving demands of our rapidly changing culture. The purpose of this project is to investigate the role of memory and self-identity, highlighting the tools of modern communication and the vast forms of expression and engagement they produce.

Games & stories. It’s in our DNA.

Modeled after the 23 pairs of human chromosomes, 46x46 is an open dialogue between 23 storytellers and 23 game designers. Each of them is carefully selected for their Critical Mass Appeal – a combination of artistic development, technological prowess and personal integrity. Our selection process seeks to investigate the dynamics of our generation and create a representative sample of unique individuals who continuously push the boundaries of culture and expression.

Global research. Social commentary.

Each artist is given an identical open brief to comment on the phenomena of memory – an interpretation of what this actually means to them in terms of their social or personal experience. Their response can be in the form of film, animation or gameplay. As long as it’s 46-seconds long. The compilation of this content will create a unique platform for meaningful social commentary, and itself serves as a new tool to examine cultural trends, tendencies and dynamics.

Dialogue is the flow.

Mapping new channels is what’s needed here. For participants, this is an opportunity to investigate new approaches to storytelling and entertainment as well as open up dialogue with their counterparts in other forms of media. Meanwhile, for sponsors, this project is a marketing flash drive that channels their core belivers, investigates competitive features, finetunes business assumptions, while plugging them in directly to an important cultural movement.
