chairman CCA. “But there are hundreds of students who after tallying their answer sheets easily get marks above 300, so somewhere somebody has goofed up,” a statement issued to Kashmir News Service said. Var asked the authorities to immediately release the answer keys for the KAS preliminary examinations so that no doubt remains among the anxious students. The association said that KAS is the most prestigious examination of the state and thousands of students study hard to qualify this once-intheir lifetime examination. “The commission should value the emotions and hard labour of the majority of 20,236 youths, who spent nights for this examination this year,” said Var, according to the statement received by KNS. “Unfortunately the commission is treating these answer keys as some defence secret,” said Var. The association said that the situation becomes murkier as the allegations of backdoor entry and nepotism runs high.”Transparency is the only solution to this problem, once you don’t hide anything, there is lesser chances of corruption,” said Var. The association also expressed concern on the reports that majority of students come from some particular subjects. “This is a skewed result, proving to be one of the worst, on the scale of cleanliness,” said Var. “On one hand about thousand students are selected from a particular stream and on the other hand no students have been selected from other

Daily subjects.” The optional subject has become a matter of great concern. Var said that it violates the fundamental right of equal opportunities, which needs to be redressed soon. “Some students are even contemplating RTI and going to court,” said Var. “So the commission should first clear the doubts for once and all and then go for mains examination.”

The state government is scheduled to issue orders of regularization at a function that will be organized by the directorate of school education Kashmir. “Since my department will organize a function in Srinagar, I will have to return Valley for distribution of these orders. There are examples where EVs have rendered over eight to nine years of service before being regularized as Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReTs). The scheme was implemented in Jammu and Kashmir in 2002-03. For habitation as a unit of planning, the state government had sanctioned the Education Guarantee Centers (EGS) to the reserved habitations and appointed EVs in these centers following the same norms applied to appointment of ReTs.

Hundreds of policemen awaits Cabinet nod

Srinagar, October 24: Hundreds of policemen proposed to be promoted on the basis of seniority are waiting for the nod from the Cabinet. Sources told CNS that government had decided to promote hundreds of policemen in police department on seniority basis. Though all the formalities have been completed but State Cabinet has not come up with any decision in this regard. Scores of policemen told CNS that it is unfortunate that despite serving the

State round the clock, the government is insensitive towards their problems. “Revenue officials went for strike for a month and the government bowed before them and fulfilled their demands. It is unfortunate that we cannot go for an indefinite strike like them,” one of the policeman said. They said that Director General of Police had met Chief Secretary in this regard who had assured him that he would take up the matter with Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather. Despite repeated attempts the Chief Secretary could not be contacted.
