Congress our candidates. We have to go together and there is no question of not supporting the NC candidates in the three seats of Valley.” The PCC president also thanked Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Ajay Sadhotra and Devender Rana and other NC leaders for remaining present in the nomination functions of Congress candidates in Jammu.

Mufti Harmesh Singh Slathia. S Amreek Singh Reen organised meeting at Dusshera Ground. These meetings were organised to intensify campaign for party candidate Yash Pal Sharma. Launching a scathing attack on NC-Congress coalition for prevailing mess and uncertainty in the State, Mufti regretted that during the last five and half years the present regime has spoiled the peaceful atmosphere which was created by the previous PDP led coalition regime. “What is happening after formation of National Conference-Congress government on January 5, 2009 is before all of us”, he said and pointed out that during the five and half year corruption has crossed all limits and the government, through its deceit tactics, has brazenly eroded sanctity and credibility of all democratic institutions. He said prevailing chaos and uncertainty in the State was result of the failure of the present regime to connect itself with the common masses. “From the day one when this government was formed, there is instability and uncertainty in the State”, Mufti said. Observing that change in imminent in J&K, Mufti said that tenure of Omar Abdullah led government would be remembered as dark-period in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. “During our regime we had not only restored peace in the State but also created atmosphere for accelerating developmental activities”, he said and added that present regime has derailed the process of peace and development in the State. “Under present regime alienation among people has increased due to governance deficit because this regime has failed to connect itself with the people”, he said and listed various incidents which occurred during the tenure of present government. “Just to enjoy the power the National Conference and Congress had entered into an alliance without forming Common Minimum Programme (CMP) and without evolving consensus on vital issues”, he said. Mufti said that PDP, during its tenure, had proved how to deliver good governance and how to establish transparency and accountability in the system. “I don’t want to praise our government but people of the State now comparing our achievements with the decades long mis-governance of successive National Conference regimes”, he said and added that PDP led regime in the State had established a system of governance which earned credibility and acceptability of the common masses. He availed this opportunity to mention that during PDP led regime 80,000 ReT teachers and 30,000 Anganwari workers were appointed with total transparency in the recruitment process. “By translating its promises into realities, PDP in a short span of time had earned faith and credibility of the people”, he said, adding, “Unlike other political parties PDP has never bartered aspirations of the people of the State for enjoying power”. He said that the tenure of the PDP led regime was historic period in the political history of the State because that government had succeeded in involving people in the governance. “Before 2002, people had no faith in the democracy or democratic institutions it was only after 2002 assembly peoples’ faith in such institutions were restored”, he said. He recalled that when PDP was formed there was a sense of fear and insecurity among the people. “Through its pro-peace agenda PDP had not only created a sense of security among the people but also restored dignity of the common masses by pioneering and implementing peace and reconciliation policies”, he said and added that the healing touch policy implemented by PDP led regime in the state had given encouraging results. Stating that Jammu and Kashmir has become a victim of trust deficit between people of the state and rest of the country, he asserted that PDP, through its policies and programmes would remove this trust deficit. He said that PDP led regime to some extent had removed that trust deficit through its works. Calling upon people to cast vote in favour of party candidate Yash Pal Sharma, Mufti said that his party nominee was an example of secularism, brotherhood and devotion. PDP candidate Yash Pal Sharma, Rangil Singh, Shanti Devi, Ved Mahajan, Major General (Retd) R S Jamwal, Hussain Ali Bafa, Ab Hamid choudhary, Rashid Malik, Fallail Singh, Surjeet Kour, Capt Anil Gour, R K Bali, Jagjeet Singh Jagga, Rajender Manhas, Ashok Jogi, R S Billoria, Balbir Singh, Ex MLC Nijazamdin Khatana, Chander Singh Slathia, Pawan Dev Singh, Vijay Kumar Bawa, Madan Choudhary, Sunny Sangral, Bachan lal, Haji Noor Mohd, Noor Hussain, Gulam Rasool, Madan Lal Chalotra, Avtar Singh Khalsa, Kulbir Singh Slathia, Sudesh Singh Slathia, Ram Kumar Singh Slathia, Balbir Singh Slathia, Yudhister Singh Slathia, Kuljeet Singh Slathia, Avtar Singh Slathia, Gara Singh, Kuldeep Verma, Ram Kalandharia, Vijay Kumar, Hans Raj, Karam Chand, Master Girdhari Lal, Charanjeet Singh, Satpal Charak, Hans Raj, Anita Devi, Sunny Sangral, Mohammad Aslam, Vikram singh, Gurdeep Singh Pandey, Vikas Bhatti, Showkat vGujjar, Ashutosh, Mushtaq, Sinl Bhat, Anita Arora, Rama, Shamlal Bhagat, Rajeev Dharmat, Ravi Salgotra, Devender Dogra, Rajender Tinku, Chander Shekhar, Ajay Sharma and others also addressed the gatherings.

Sagar city, Srinagar as part of the people to people contact. It was attended by eminent persons of the area besides leaders of the party. Sagar said that it is recorded history that the National

Zabarwan Times Conference has rendered in numerable sacrifices for the cause of the state and have never cared for the power, whereas the leaders of the PDP have always been involved in the mechanizations to stall the interests of the sate for their petty political interests and also murder democracy and democratic intuitions as was evident by their dubious role in ensuring the toppling of democratically elected governments in1977, 1984 and 1990.He said that the party has been responsible for enactment of certain draconian laws which have inflicted miseries on the people of the state and now in a state of fear and hypocrisy they are trying to mislead the people by spreading lies as well as false propaganda but the people of the state are wise enough to understand their designs and will give a befitting reply to them in near future. Appealing the people to vote en-mass for Dr. Farooq Abdulah, Sagar said that there is no comparison between Dr. Farooq who is the most popular leader of the people and a political novice being fielded by the PDP.“It is not for the first time that this party is targeting National conference by launching vicious propaganda against it, they are in a habit of doing so since long and have always been defeated in their nefarious designs”, Sagar said. Sagar said that Omar led government has ushered an era of peace and development in the state, which have no parallels in the annals of the history and this has induced a sense of fear in the minds of PDP, which is now resorting to political gimmickry to further their ulterior political motives. He said that the government has worked tirelessly for the restoration of the peace in the e state and now the people are reaping the dividends. Referring to the statements of the PDP and its several leaders regarding resolution of K issue, Sagar said that they are used to propagate lies and float obnoxious ideas whereas National Conference has always advocated for the peaceful resolution of the K-issue and have rendered numerous sacrifices for the same and people are well aware of this fact.

reporters here today, adding it was a “major catch”. He was arrested outside Ajmer Railway Station early yesterday morning when he alighted from a train which came from Bandra, Mumbai. His other three associates identified as Mohammad Mahruf (21), Mohammad Waqar Azhar alias Haneef (21), both residents of Jaipur, and Shaquib Ansari alias Khalid (25) of Jodhpur were arrested at his instance in the wee hours today from their residences with the help of Rajasthan police. A youth, whose identity police did not reveal, was picked up for questioning from Shaheen Bagh area from Jamia Nagar for questioning as he was in touch with the three arrested from Jaipur and Jodhpur. “We have recovered huge amount of explosive materials, detonators, electronic circuits/timers from the residence of these three people from Jaipur and Jodhpur. With this, a spectacular militant strike has been averted,” said Shrivastava. Asked whether the militants had plans to target BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Shirvastava said, “Present level of investigation doesn’t point towards it.” On whether the militants were planning attack on any politician or rally during Lok Sabha elections, he said, “Any important event including elections can be targeted but we are at a very preliminary stage of investigation and I would not like to speculate as if now.” Cases have been registered under Explosive Substances Act at Jaipur and Jodhpur in connection with the recoveries made from the militants. 25-year-old Rehman has disclosed that the purpose of his visit to Ajmer was to coordinate and oversee the preparations being carried out by the three militants of the Rajasthan module for carrying out a spectacular terror strike, said Shrivastava. An expert in IED and other explosives, Rehman was brought to Delhi and produced in a Special Court which remanded him in 10-day police custody. His detailed interrogation is under way, police said. Mahruf and Waqar are engineering students in Jaipur while Ansari is running a computer DTP and design printing business, said Shrivastava. Trained in terror camps in Pakistan, Waqas was allegedly involved in the Jama Masjid attacks on September 19, 2010, the Sheetla Ghat, Varanasi blasts carried out on December 7, 2010, the blasts carried out at Opera House and Zaveri Bazar in Mumbai on July 12, 2011. The next militant strike carried out by Waqas was the Pune serial blasts of August 1, 2012. He was also involved in the Hyderabad serial blasts carried out on February 21, 2013. Some activists and locals staged a protest outside Jamia Nagar police station today over what they termed as “illegal arrest” of two youths from the area at about 7 AM on Sunday allegedly by Delhi Police Special Cell. Police, however, said that they have detained one youth for questioning. “The two youths, basically from Bihar, who were residing at house number 101-A in Hari Khothi Lane, Abul Fazal Enclave, were taken into custody by police early morning. One of the two is a Mechanical Engineering final year student in a college in Jaipur,” a local claimed. Although police recovered only mobile phones and some other items from Waqas at the time of his arrest, pen drives, explosives, timers, circuits, watches and other material were seized from Ansari, Maruf and Waqar. From Ansari, police recovered a laptop, mobile phone, detonators, circuit, timers, and explosives while one laptop, mobile phones, pen drive and other material were seized from Maruf. “The largest seizure was made from Waqar. We seized mobile phones, pen drive, and other incriminating documents/books from a black bag. We also found 10 watches, two detonators, two small plastic bottles ball bearing, two complete circuits, batteries, nails, some silver colour explosive material. “Two bottles containing Magnesium Sulphate, castor seeds, four transit circuit, 10 circuit plates, soldering rods, sodium chloride among others,” said an official associated with the investigation. According to investigators, Waqas had stayed in Mum-

bai for some days before boarding a train to Ajmer. The militants were either waiting for an opportune time to strike or instructions from the higher ups, the official said. The Special Cell had been following the clues which had come out from the interrogations of Ahmad Siddhibappa Zarar alias Yasin Bhatkal, Indian Mujahideen co-founder and one of India’s most wanted militants and Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi. It was also following leads from two dreaded militants and associates of Waqas, who had been arrested in August last year from Indo-Nepal border for their alleged involvement in a spate of bombings, police said. From Pakistan, Waqas had reached Kathmandu along with Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi (arrested with Yasin Bhatkal) in September 2010 and was received by Tehseen Akhtar alias Monu, the current Chief of Indian Mujahideen after the arrest of Bhatkal. “Although, Waqas and Haddi came from the same flight they were not known to each other and it was Akhtar who introduced them,” said Shrivastava. From Nepal, Waqas came to Darbhanga in Bihar where he met Yaseen Bhatkal and other members of the Bihar module of IM. This module then carried out the Jama Masjid attacks on 19th September, 2010. After successfully executing the Jama Masjid terror strikes, Waqas returned to Bihar, police said. In Bihar, after carrying out a comprehensive review of the Jama Masjid attacks wherein the IED prepared by this module did not have the desired impact, Waqas informed Yasin Bhatkal about his expertise in making Hydrogen Peroxide based IEDs. “This later led to the Sheetla Ghat, Varanasi blasts carried out on December 7, 2010. While fabricating the IEDs for this strike, Waqas suffered an injury while connecting the detonator and the timer as the detonator went off. It injured two fingers of Waqas’s left hand. “After the Varanasi bombings, as per the directions of Yasin Bhatkal, Waqas shifted to Mumbai where he stayed in a rented accommodation at Habib Apartment, Byculla. In June 2011, Waqas, Yasin Bhatkal, Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi and Tehseen Akhtar alias Monu started preparations for the Mumbai serial blasts. After preparing the IEDs, blasts were carried out at Opera House and Zaveri Bazar,” said Shrivastava. The next militant strike carried out by Waqas was the Pune serial blasts of 1st August, 2012. Here, he partnered with Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi and the Maharashtra module of IM consisting of Asad, Imran, Irfan, Feroze and Sayed Maqbool (all since arrested by the Special Cell). After carrying out the Pune blasts, which did not yield the desired results, Waqas and Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi left for Mangalore and settled in a safe house. In Mangalore, Waqas received instructions from Riyaz Bhatkal to prepare for carrying out bomb blasts in Hyderabad. Early February 2013, Waqas and Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi shifted to Hyderabad where Tehseen Akhtar also joined them. The Hyderabad serial blasts were successfully executed by these three militants on 21st February 2013. After carrying out this strike, Waqas returned to Mangalore and stayed there for some time. When the news of the arrest of Yasin Bhatkal and Asadullah Akhtar by the Indian security agencies broke out, Riyaz directed Waqas to leave the Mangalore hideout immediately. Waqas moved to Munnar in Kerala and took a rented accommodation there. Tehseen Akhtar also visited him there for a short period. After staying in Munnar, Waqas kept roaming in Orissa, West Bengal, Maharashtra while keeping in touch with Riyaz Bhatkal and Tehseen Akhtar. On the directions of Akhtar to come to Ajmer for an assignment, he came to Ajmer from where he was arrested.

Shinde even told them that there is no threat to them. After the Patna blasts during Narendra Modi rally, I myself upgraded his security cover,” Shinde said in response to a query about possible threat to BJP leaders, including Modi. “There is no threat to Modi,” he said. “We have made all the (security) arrangements. Whether it be from BJP or from the socialist party or from the BSP or from the Congress. Those who are facing threat we have provided the security (cover),” he assured. A BJP delegation led by Ravi Shankar Prasad had met Shinde on Friday and urged him to ensure security to BJP leaders during the Lok Sabha elections. “There are some elements who want to hamper election process. We told him to ensure proper security,” Prasad had said. The Home Minister had, however, said the government has no information about possible threat to them from terror groups.

Mehbooba unholy alliance, she said, did not benefit people of J&K rather deprive them off their many resources like Shahtoos, which was banned by Omar Abdullah on the instance of Manika Gandhi. By doing so, the NC has served a death blow to the centuries old entrepreneurship and high value craft of Kashmir rendering thousands of people in Srinagar jobless. Not only this, the NC government handed over the seven most feasible power projects to the NHPC leaving the state high and dry. She said the same Manika Gandhi, on whose directions NC went on to make thousands of people jobless, is now demanding that pellet guns may not be used against dogs, but the chief minister, Omar Abdullah is projecting the use of pellet guns in Kashmir as a mercy for Kashmiris. She said till now, with the result many young men have lost their lives, hundreds have been rendered handicapped and dozens have lost their eye sight. Quoting a study conducted by SKIMS, Soura, Mehbooba said only in 2010, pellet guns have killed six persons and injured 198 in Kashmir. Recalling the promises made by NC in 2008 elections like ‘Meter Todo, Heater Lagao ( Break Meters, Use Heaters), free power, jobs for all, reduction in cost of cooking gas etc. , she said none of these promises have been fulfilled. Contrary to this the power situation has gone bad to worst in spite of the fact that power tariff has been increased five folds; jobs are on sale including post retirement jobs for likes of Mushtaq Peer. Mehbooba assured the women that their empowerment and fulfillment of their needs will be the priority of her party. She added unlike the previous MPs be it Omar Abdullah or Farooq Abdullah, whose aim to win parliamentary polls was to get a birth in BJP and Congress government respectively, the present PDP candidate for Srinagar parliamentary polls, Tariq Hameed Karra will serve the people with all his capabilities. “He will be available to the people and try to serve them and enhance their self-respect and dignity unlike Farooq Abdullah, who called Kashmiris as ‘Maha Chors’, she said. She said NC is also responsible for the disempowerment of Legislative Assembly and its prestige, dignity was compromised when the NDA tossed the Autonomy resolution into dustbin, which was passed by the legislature unanimously, but they still continued their services with them. She said Saif-u-Din Soz was thrown out of NC, when he voted against the Vajpayee government in 1998. “So much was intolerance and intensity of relationship that they threw out their senior colleague, because he voted according to his conscience,” she said. She said Dr Farooq crossed all limits to please Narender Modi and other leaders of NDA. “Only couple of years back in Ahmadabad, Dr Farooq said ‘he can see Allah in Modi’s eyes’,” she said and added during Gujart riots he not only praised Modi, but they continued to be part of NDA which speaks loud about NC’s thirst for power. She said during 2010 summer agitation, when Dr Farooq Abdullah was asked about the killings on the streets of Kashmir, which his chief minister son was supervising, he had replied: ‘Kashmiriyoun Ko Goli Maro’ (Shoot Kashmiris with bullets).

Plane board, including five Indians and one Indian-Canadian. “New Chinese satellite imagery does seem to suggest at least one large object down there, consistent with the object that earlier satellite imagery discovered,” Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said. “Yesterday one of our civilian search aircraft got visuals on a number of objects in the Australia search zone. [There were] a number of small objects, fairly close together within the Australian search zone, including as I understand it a wooden pallet. Before we can be too specific about what it might be we need to recover some of this material. “It’s still too early to be definite, but obviously we have now had a number of very credible leads and there is increasing hope - no more than hope, no more than hope - that we might be on the road to discovering what did happen to this ill-fated aircraft,” Abbott told reporters in neighbouring Papua New Guinea on Sunday, where he is on a visit. More planes on Sunday joined the hunt in the desolate area in the Indian Ocean, about 2,500 kilometres southwest of Perth, where three days of scouring through the area found nothing. The jet had mysteriously disappeared from the radar screens, an hour after its take-off from Kuala Lumpur. On Saturday, a new object was spotted by Chinese satellites that could be debris from the Beijing-bound Boeing 777-200, in a latest development for the hunt that entered its third week. The object sighted by the Chinese satellites is 22.5 metres long and 13 metres wide and about 120 km southwest from a location where possible debris was sighted by another satellite on 16th March in the remote ocean off Western Australia. Two Chinese aircraft and two Japanese Orions joined the fleet flying into the search zone, which was on Saturday expanded to 36,000 square kilometres. “The more aircraft we have, the more ships we have, the more confident we are of recovering whatever material is down there,” Abbott said.
