Opening Lisa opened the e-meeting at 19:55 CET. Lisa and Valentina, our great SciComm representatives, welcomed everyone and calmed as down because this e-meeting wasn’t supposed to be too long!

Minute taker Lisa told everyone that she already asked me (Aleksandra) for being minute taker and the decision was, luckily for me, approved.

Approval of last minutes The minutes from the last e-meeting on 21.11.2016, by Tobi Michl, were approved.

Promotional material All of them (post cards, stickers, bookmarks) were ordered and are waiting for distribution with Lisa and Monika. Of course they were paid by EGEA. Lisa said that Monika should bring post cards to the live meeting in Jena so that we can distribute them and use during regional congresses. Lisa also said that it’s important to fill in the doc with attendance list of future scientific and EGEA events. The link will be in the e-mail.

New Committee Website During the OSM, committee representatives got the information about new committee websites which are going to be made. The idea was to talk about it during the live meeting in Jena but unfortunately the deadline is until this Saturday 14.1.2017... Everyone should check the concept and give comments. Don’t be shy and give us some fresh ideas and comments!!! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1f1vI2HLL6SD0e-OP-BI05o3rUlTHGiqni5dS2TGg70/edit

Live Meeting in Jena Valentina told us that everyone will get agenda form for the Live Meeting so that all members (even those who are not going to Jena) will know what was going on during the meeting. What is more, all participants should get a message from their hosts in Jena.

Main topics of the meeting are: 1. Promotional video 2. Posters 3. Hydrology which wants to join SciComm

Promotional video The idea is to make promotional video which should last no longer than 3 min so that it won’t be boring for viewers. The most important thing is that we need ideas about how the video should look like. The best solution would be to show as many SciComm members as possible, so even if you are not coming for Live Meeting in Jena you can film yourself and send

the

video.

science in the box so everyone can pull something

out of the box (measuring instruments, tools to simulate a geographical process with) and use them in a scientific way. Valentina wasn’t sure if it actually would attract new people, but Lisa seemed very positive to the idea. Ivan asked Lisa about time of the video and Lisa said that it should be short, but cool concept is the most important. Ivan said that the orga team of the Moscow Green Walking Tour wants to join the video and Lisa told him that the goal is that the video should be ready for regional congresses. Bence commented that “compared to the last AC videos my proposal would be to have kind of faster song than those had”. Someone added that “during AC videos they are super boring and should attract more attention”, then Tobias said that “promotion video add new project that not promotes science but geo science in EGEA”.

The aim is to use the video during EGEA fair, for promotional weeks which are planned. There is also a project to promote geography in EGEA (more information from vice president), but its more general project than SciComm one.

Scientific tables The idea is to make tables for “scientific conversation” during lunches or dinners at the congresses. So it’s also important to fill the attendance list so that we know how many SciComm members will be present during congresses and how many of them can help with the organisation. Of course we need to collect some interesting topics to be spoken about, so warm up your brains and think about it!!! How it will probably look like? Someone will introduce the topic and start the discussion. We plan to make 1 or 2 scientific tables at each congress. Present members reacted very positively to the idea!

Projects 1. POSTERS during AC 2017. We will get 4 fixed places for people who handle with the posters, but we would like to make 10 posters during AC (that would be perfect number). So we should find 6 interested people who will get places anyway. First of all we need to discuss how the session will look like and how to call it cause “poster session” sounds a bit sad. We should start to think about it in January but AC scientific coordinator is not available now... Bence Sólyom said that “probably we should discuss first if we want to stay with the topic of the congress or not” but the topic was not agitated. 2. SCIENTIFIC AWARSDS AND SYMPOSIUM it’s not ready we should think about it!!! Then Lukas asked “How is the EUROGEO project going?” And Lisa answered “We are having a competition for the best abstract organized together with EGEA Alumni and the EUROGEO Board. The deadline is the 14th, no applications yet but there were 4-5 people interested in the conference. Also, the registration deadline is the 17th, we will probably get a discount for EGEAns. EGEA Amsterdam is currently working on an extra program for EGEAns. They will probably also be able to host them, so they can save the money for the hotel.” Finally Daniel Schidel joined the conversation at the very end but he was warmly welcomed.

Missed topics Lisa asked if there are any missing topics, but no one responded.

Closing Lisa reminded everybody that if they have any ideas especially connected to projects, promotional video etc don’t hesitate to contact our committee representatives. Lisa closed the e-meeting at 21:00 CET.
