Graphic DESIGN ‘Artefacts Past’ For this project, I examined the history of the His Master’s Voice Gramophone company. For the creative output shown, graphic illustrations depict the history and narrative of a brand and company that has existed into the present, through two world wars and advancing technology.

USING FILM PHOTOGRAPHY, NARRATIVES OF CHRISTCHURCH AND WELLINGTON ARE CONTRASTED, WITH THE COLLECTION OF IMAGES RESULTING IN A LIT ACETATE MODEL. IN THE WAKE OF THE EARTHQUAKE, CITIZENS OF CHRISTCHURCH CONTINUE TO EXPRESS MORE CONCERN FOR THE DISRUPTION OF THEIR CHILDREN’S ROUTINES, THE HOME LIFE, RATHER THAN ARCHITECTURAL SYMBOLS OF THEIR COMMUNITIES., THIS WORK AIMED TO COMMUNICATE THE LOSS OF HOME, USING IMAGES OF LOCAL SCHOOLS, THE BEACH, FAMILY SECTIONS AS DESRVING MORE ATTENTION THAN WHAT THE PRINT MEDIA HAS CHOSEN TO ADDRESS. tHE SELECTION OF WELLINGTON IMAGES SERVES AS A COMPARISON ; THE CITY HAS BEGUN TO ENFORCE NEEDED EARTHQAUKE LEGISLATION, AND THE NUMBER OF STOREFRONTS AND BUILDINGS DISPLAYING CAUTION SIGNS IS increasing.
