During Worship Today… Use a yellow pew card to request prayers or membership information See an usher for hearing assistance devices with user controlled volume, NRSV Bibles, large print order of service and hymns. Children’s bulletins and ’Rainbow Bags’ with quiet toys are located at the Children’s Worship Station in the narthex. Please return the bags after worship. There is a staffed nursery for infants and toddlers at the north end of the building. There is a Prayer Room available for prayer and meditation at the north end of the building.

Framing the Faith Framing the Faith is the foundational piece of Zion’s discipleship process. Simply put, we are going to build our foundation for living on God and God’s promises through Christ. This 7-week journey begins on Wednesday, September 19, from 6:30 to 8pm. Sign up online or at the information desk.

Sign up for Golf Sign up now for the annual 9 hole scramble at Wild Marsh to be held on Saturday, September 8, with sign -in and fellowship from 3:45pm. Sympathy: Sympathy to the family of Kenny Marquette Jr, who passed away on Monday, August 20. The funeral will be at Zion on Monday, August 27, at 4pm, with visitation from 3pm.

Announcements & Upcoming Events Homecoming Sunday Beach Party Zion’s annual Homecoming Celebration will be held on Sunday, September 9. This year the day will include the kick off of a “Living the Good Life” sermon series and the Zion Wind Ensemble in worship, the annual Ministry Fair, and a picnic lunch and beach party (including a sand beach, games, crafts, a DJ, and more) on the front lawn. Don’t forget to wear your Hawaiian shirt!

Mission Jamaica Supplies Needed The shipping container sitting in the north parking lot is being filled with medical equipment and will be shipped to Jamaica. Donations of gently used towels, bedding of any size, and lightweight (spring / summer) clothing for packing the pod can be brought to the collection bin in the narthex/lobby. Contact Russ Peterson or Andy Burgdorf if you have 2x4s and/or plywood sheets to donate.

Zion Wind Ensemble Senior high and adult musicians are invited to play with the annual Zion Wind Ensemble on Sunday, September 9. Rehearsals will be Wednesday, September 5, at 5:30pm, and Saturday, September 8, at 9am. Contact Sherilyn to sign up.

Old Testament Stories – Beyond the Bible Rick Johnson will be presenting this 7-week Bible Study at Zion on Thursday evenings September 6-October 18. Stories to be covered include: Creation and Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah, Abraham, Joseph and Moses. The study will involve reading the stories each week in the Bible and then watching a History Channel video of the stories with commentary from Jewish historians, professors, and rabbis. New Office Staff A warm Zion welcome to Ann Lyons and Dawn Bestick, who are sharing the front office administrator/receptionist position in the church office. Ann (left) resides in Clear Lake, MN. She has worked as an office manager in the healthcare industry and has operated her own graphic design business for several years. Dawn (right) is new to our area and resides in St. Michael, MN. Her previous work experiences include working at Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Ulm, MN for several years and most recently has worked as the K-12 enrichment coordinator for School District #837 in Madelia, MN. Both Dawn and Ann began at Zion this week and will be working 25 hours per week. Please extend a friendly Zion welcome as they greet you in our front office.

Children’s Ministry News Sunday School Registration All kids age 3 years to 6th grade are invited to sign up for the new Sunday School year online. Parents who register online by Sunday, August 26, will receive class assignments at the parent meeting on Sunday, September 9. Classes start the same day, Sunday, September 9. Youth Ministry News Confirmation Guides Needed for 2012-13 If you are an adult who is able to assist with leading 7th & 8th grade students in a small group setting, please consider stepping up and becoming a Confirmation Guide.
